Sure I know the feeling of being down, having family, drug issues, or even just the utter depression of being chemically imbalanced. But these are things that normally pass with time(or help). Being alive is just great, there are so many things to do, or the choice to not do stuff. Somedays I just feel so glad to be the sperm that made it. So when I go back to this thread I am honestly confused when a well informed adult would make a cognitive decision to stop living.
I'm glad that your life is worth living. Mine isn't. I've got chronic physical and mental problems that will never get treated because I can't afford health insurance, and both cause me chronic pain (lets see how much you love life when wiping your own ass is a struggle against pain). I've been unemployed for 5 years and have no useful job skills, and wouldn't be able to use them if I did due to the aforementioned physical/mental problems. I have no friends and no close family. The relatives I'm living with don't know what to do with me, so they've decided that pretending I don't exist is the best way to handle things. My entire existence is a 10x13 bedroom that may as well be a prison cell. I often go days without eating or drinking because getting food or drink often isn't worth the pain the effort will entail (not to mention the disapproving stares/comments of my relatives), and yet I'm grossly overweight (I love the fucking irony of that. I eat less than most household pets but I'm fatter than most of America). When I kill myself, the only way my relatives will know about it is when my body starts to smell. And here's the beauty of the situation - one of the relatives I live with works in the mental health field treating people like me that wind up in the ER. So it's probably safe to say they have a clue what my deal is but don't give a shit and are hoping I'll just go away.
So from where I'm sitting, suicide will be a blissful end to the suffering that has been my life (and the suffering my life has caused others). After all that I've been through, I am honestly confused when a well informed adult would question another's right to make a cognitive decision to stop living.
I am sorry but I have the exact same issues that you are talking about. I am not going to talk bad to you about having these problems but seriously there are definitely ways to get it treated. There are plenty of places that will help you without health care. There are plenty of things you can do on your own without health care as well.
I can barely walk, I am in chronic pain all the time. I have emotional problems that the vast majority of people in the world will never understand or experience.
I am not trying to one up anyone, that isn't what I am trying to do. I am saying that people deal with the same issues as you, if not worse and deal with it.
I have a lot more to say but I don't want to get into flaming people that are already suffering so I will leave it at that.
A lot of countries have healthcare for people that are disabled... If you live in one of those then I don't know what your excuse is.
No offense, but you don't know shit about me. "Not to talk bad about me?" When you have to preface something with that, then you know you're about to talk bad about me. So spare me the faux-civility.
You're better at suffering than I am. That must make you so proud... That you're such a trooper you can just take all kinds of pain and ask for more (even going so far as to call me out for not being the Man that you are because I actually want to end my pain). Hats off to ya, bro.
And yeah, you are trying to one-up me. That was the whole point of your post. "See, I'm suffering physically and emotionally every day and I don't want to kill myself..." Like I said, hats off to you. If you want the Internet Suffering Award, you can have it.
I live in America. Here in the US if you don't have health insurance or lots of cash, you don't get non-critical medical treatment. I have neither insurance or money. I'm also not technically disabled, as that requires me to get medical tests, which I cannot afford (I haven't been to a doctor in around 10 years).
I've had chronic worsening back pain (with associated depression/anxiety) since I was 17. I'm mid-40's now. I haven't worked for 5+ years. Adding to the chronic back issue are the myriad of other health problems that develop over a lifetime of little/no physical activity (due to aforementioned back issue). As I'm not receiving any government aid I'm on no roles, lists or statistics. Effectively, I have dropped out of the system. Naturally, I wasn't able to pay off any debts, so I'm a toxic risk for creditors and anyone that checks my credit score (which many seemingly-unrelated entities do, including most/all employers) will give me a wide berth. I'm also effectively homeless, as I live with relatives and pay no rent (because I can't afford to). I have no say over my living conditions and could be thrown out on the street never, or tomorrow (there's that anxiety again).
Basically, if I had money I could get treatment and maybe enjoy the last few years of my life. But I can't get money without treatment. And around we go.
And yeah, there are free/deeply-discounted clinics. But they don't offer the kind of care that will treat my chronic back pain, not to mention my now-severe mental issues. You do actually get what you pay for, occasionally.
Do yourself a favor and don't ever assume that you know what it's like to be someone else. You don't, and neither do I.
