wondering if I should take my cat to the vet. or am i over-reacting? *update - cat has cancer
    #18887447 - 09/25/13 12:05 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Because she is not showing any signs of being in pain.. but she has been acting different the last couple days. Shes been sleeping a LOT more lately her energy is lower than it normally is... But shes never been too much of an energetic cat, shes more of a relaxed cat. I remember reading somewhere that cats will go and lay down in odd places when they are feeling 'off' or are dying, and my cat has been laying in places the NEVER lays... shes got her normal sleeping spots and its like overnight, she changed all the places she lays down!!!

So I dont know if this is natural behavior or what! Obviously I care about her and would take her to the vet. But in a way, I think Im being overly-sensitive... and a trip to the vet is costly. So I wanted to get some peoples opinions on the matter.

thanks,
Dan

UPDATE- it turns out she has some cancerous growths and we have to put her to sleep. This is the last thing I expected and Im having trouble breathing because of a panic attack I am having.

how old is your cat?

has she been eating her daily intake?

does she feel bothered in any way when you pet her or pick her up?

shes about 5 now and is fixed. Shes an indoor cat too. She doesnt seem to be irritated in any way, just more sluggish... She was the runt so the way she acts normally is kinda like a baby... ANYONE can pick her up for as long as they wanted without her wanting to jump off! She purrs like CRAZY and begs for love and petting... She also curls up to people( even strangers she just met) and will sleep the entire night in your arms like a teddy bear! when you nudge her, she still wont even budge!! you gotta actually pick her up move her in order to get her to move!!! And this is how she normally acts!!

So not much at all bothers or irritates her.. You could probably continually poke her many many times and she will not react! She is also deaf so loud noises dont bother her, which I feel is another reason she feel VERY comfortable... because no sharp or loud noises effects her.

So its really hard to tell if there is something wrong with her because she will not react like a normal cat does!

a shroomery cat just died because it didn't get to the vet in time. i'd get her there and have some blood work and a physical done at the least if you're concerned.

Could be a 101 things.  Just take her to the vet. A check won't be that bad. If it's like England you're looking at about $50. Though we hav vets for people that can't afford too

is she far along in the cancer? cats have been cured of cancer using the essiac cancer remedy. it's 4 easy to get herbs and might be worth a try before you put her down. how old is she? 5, got it. she could pull through.

:frown: sorry to hear that, maybe you could get a baby kitten to fill the void. Have a benzo for the breathing.

I got a cat atm who has a hole in the back of his eye that needs like a 2 grand surgery.

Obviously I cant afford that for a cat unless he wore a hat I suppose.

It's the circle of life. I'm sincerely sorry for your loss; anytime is not long enough. Reminisce in the memories you shared because words fall short of expressing sorrow at any level. I wish you peace in your hard times.

She has cancerous growths on or around her lungs.. Her kidneys are also 3 times larger than they are supposed to be... Chemo-therapy would only delay the inevitable:frown: And also cost thousands of dollars which I do not have. The vet said that a steroid injection will help short term.

I love my kitty so much:sad:

Give it some weed oil, been shown to cure people and animals. Couldnt hurt to try could it?
