Alright post a really old picture of a species from when you were a budding newbie.(especially if it's embarrassingly crappy)
Agrocybe pediades 4-27-11
Then add your most recent picture of the same species.
Agrocybe pediades 8-4-13

This excercise is meant to bring us on a trip down memory lane and show us how much we've stepped up our game, so don't be afraid to show off your really terrible photos first.

Getting There
I've noticed my patience for mushrooms has gotten better, although I try to pick more then I take pictures. So unless I get a real nice camera, the quality will stay nearly the same.

My first P. zapotecorum pic from 2007:

One from yesterday:

My first P. yungensis pic from 2009

A pic from the same spot, 2 weeks ago:

What did I do differently? Used a tripod, closed down the fstop, used a white umbrella to block and diffuse the sunlight, and used reflectors to bounce some of the light back up on to the stems and the gills.

Is anyone using the chrome or saturated color setting on their cams? I'm slowly absorbing my cam settings and I see that. There's so much vivid saturation in a lot of folks' shots I thought maybe that was one of the tricks.
But prolly not, you're probably doing it all with light, huh? Or longer exposures?

"The initial quake was a 6.6 but fairly shallow. I felt it as a prolonged up and down vibration followed by a jolt forward and then to the left, like square dancing."
