Tons of stuff on google but nothing beats the culinary experience I see you guys throwing around in this forum. Cooking for my girlfriend. Protein should be chicken or pork.
I want it to be something mildy impressive she hasn't had before that I can surprise her with. Something beyond a pork chop or stuffed chicken breast. Or give me an idea on how to fancy that up. Any direction or inspiration would be greatly appreciated.

Sweet and sticky chicken on the grill.
Quarter cup balsamic, three tablespoons soy or amino's, one clove chopped garlic, lil zest of an orange, pinch of salt, tablespoon olive oil, one teaspoon honey.
Marinate some all natural boneless skinless breasts in them, then grill turning often, and recoating with the remaining sauce.
Serve with grilled zuchinni squash or yellow squash, or asparagus, or all three. I like to serve it with jasmine or brown rice. You can pick another side to go with it, I personally love some purple hulled peas or seasoned green beans.
I love making salad, and making the italian dressing outta the package, where you use vinegar and oil and the seasoning packet. Mixed greens salad is a win win.

Well, I suggest you to make honey glazed ham by gordon ramsay. It's owesome! and you could see tutorial on youtube too
You could make also a braized beef (with barolo maybe) that is a little bit difficult and long cook (about 2hours). Cook in a pot with lowest flame and cap and not in oven if you want meal very soft...

Honey Roast Parsnips - Parboil/steam for 10mins, let dry a lil, into oven at 200c basted with oil/honey for 30-40 mins and they are amazing. Any meal I can get away with it, I'll throw em in. Do the same for carrots or any other root veg. Maybe add herb to season if u like.
Goes well with any roasted meats. Try chicken breast, sliced and cheese inserted, wrap in bacon and cook as normal.
Champ: mash spuds and scallions.
Yorkshire puddings
Roast tomatoes

For a side you could use grilled melon watermelon , honeydew , cantaloup brushed with some simple syrup and add some cayan and butter to tighten it up and maybe a nice green salad for a starter. Simple but effective. If you want a green side grilled asparagus fits the bill well . Depends on whether you want outdoor type food or indoor for indoor some greens and beans or braised cabbage . would work nice with the pork. Either way both are simple but work. And both are simple. You don't have to dirty every dish in the kitchen.
