Leeching Threshold For Welfare
    #18659933 -

I think there needs to be a leech threshold for welfare.  that is, if you apply for welfare, a case worker looks at your lifestyle.  If you have cigarettes, alcohol, cable tv, or other luxury items, those things should raise the threshold for which people can get welfare.  After all, there is no 'right' to have booze, cigarettes, or live in luxury.  You should have to live minimalistically, and should be made to do public service for you welfare.

That's what they do in Japan.  You see road crews, there are old women out there with shovels and stuff, they are basically earning their welfare.  They don't sit on their butts.

One thing I do notice, it's always the young dude who is sitting on the backhoe or grader, and the old bitch is down in the ditch digging with a shovel............ :smirk:

I mean yeah the welfare system is abused to shit, but those are some draconian views. I think to get welfare you can't make more than $200-250 a week and who cares what people spend their extra cash on? You saying poor people should only pay bills, buy food, etc. and have $0 leftover to live?

The public service for welfare actually sounds reasonable, but only for those who aren't currently working.

Hey, if I am being made to pay your bills, then you should honor my generosity by leading a responsible and sober life.

THIS.  Fucking welfare isn't so you can maintain a standard of living, it is so you can survive until you get on your feet again.

Let me give you another example--some school systems are giving free lunches to kids, yet their parents have cigarettes?  What's more important, your kid eating or smoking a cigarette?  That's irresponsible.  It costs a few dollars a week to make a sandwich, a couple pieces of fruit, and something to drink for a kid.  If parents can manage cigarettes but they can't manage a lunch for their kids, they are fucking bad parents.

You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch. Just because there are a few bad apples doesn't mean you should throw out the whole lot. Not everyone on welfare is a thief. That's like politicians banning salvia because a couple dumbasses got in over their head and posted it on youtube.

I didn't say throw the whole lot out.  Where did you fucking learn how to read, in an inner city school?

I said have the welfare case worker evaluate the lifestyle, and then either raise the threshold or lower the benefit for people who choose to maintain luxury over necessity.  The people who really do need food still get it.

Exactly. They should also be made to take drug tests if i gotta take one to make them money, they should have to take one to collect it.

Seriously i was in 7-11 not to long ago some chick in front of me payed for her junk food they let them buy on that EBT card or whatever it is, then walked out and hoped in the drivers seat of a Cadillac escalade with some ridiculous ass 26" rims and the whole bit. At least all her kids were in car seats.
