Corporate Welfare, Leeches, and YOU

Man, I'm really fucking sick of all these CEOs, executives, bankers, investers, and stock traders sucking money out of us constantly!

I just read that median household wealth is 20 time higher for white people than it is for blacks! I mean how can a motherfucker be working 50 hours a week and not be able to pay their bills!?

I mean, I'm not against anyone's right to make a buck, but there should be a limit. I see these people loading up their shopping carts with steaks and luxury organic food while all the people I know have to eat Mac-n-Cheeze so they can pay their gas bill.

Maybe we should tax the fuck out of the top 1%, or how about increasing taxes of corporate profits? That sounds like it should prevent people from abusing their right to make a buck..

Who needs a million dollar condo that they only use one month out of the year? Why should all those big houses which can't be sold because of the economic crash and subsequent bailout just SIT EMPTY while people are sleeping on the streets or in their cars?

There is not enough money from the top 1% to cover our debts. Who are you to tell another what they need(I agree waste of cash but still)? Just realized this is a :maximumtrolling: thread so I will just sit this one out.

Do you own stock in the companies?  If not they aren't taking any money from you and are actually paying huge taxes.  To benefit losers.

You already do.  The top 1% pay 39% of the taxes and the bottom 50% pay about 3% of the taxes.  And no, they don't have just 3% of the income.

"Our" debts? Who's "we" who has all this debt? I didn't borrow trillions upon trillions of dollars to fight wars in the middle east, or to bail out Goldman Sachs et al. Did you?

Telling somebody what they need is a lot different than telling somebody to STOP STEALING FROM THE REST OF SOCIETY!!!

There's not a scarity of food, the food is being kept from the hungry.

There is not a scarcity of housing, the housing is being MADE empty.

The fact that some people are very rich and some people are very poor is not some unfortunate juxtaposition, they are CAUSALLY linked! Some people are very rich BECAUSE they are in a position to have very poor people work for them and make them lots of money. Rich people are STEALING the wealth that the working class makes.

(note: I'm not talking about middle class lapdogs who like to think they are "rich", although they are complicit also. I'm talking about the REALLY rich people. The people who actually have power.)

What does that mean anyway? Just because there is a gap in wealth does not mean racism. Look a the asians, they outperform whites. Does that mean asians are racist towards white people?

Trust me, the rich are NOT 'leeching' off the poor. If anything, it's the other way around.

Do you see any legislation that takes from the poor and gives to the rich? Medicaid for the rich? Welfare for the rich? Unemployment checks for the rich? Do the rich pay a higher percent tax of their income, or the poor?

You're blaming the CEOs, corporate execs, and bankers, but try looking up the biographies of those head honchos at Exxon, GE, Bank of America, and other Fortune 500 companies. They weren't given millions or given their jobs; the vast majority weren't even born wealthy. They worked for what they have now, and probably harder than you, though that's not the point. Is it fair that they make so freaking much? Not really, but you can't just point to them as evil and corrupt and gluttinous. That's just capitalism.

If you want to change the status quo, change the system.

By the way...corporate welfare usually has a purpose: for example, if agricultural subsidies (which, BTW, don't really go to poor family farms, they mostly go to big agricultural corporations) didn't exist, the cost of food in the US would skyrocket.

I'm not disagreeing with you- there IS a disparate wealth gap between the top and bottom 1%, 10%, and even 20%, but you can't just blame the rich for being rich. Blame capitalism, blame the public education system, blame the recession, but don't hate the playa, hate the game :laugh:

And I really don't know where race plays into this...it just kind of sounds like you're ranting about how much it sucks to not be rich...

If you hold a naive assumption that "racism" means "personally dislikes" then what you said makes sense. But if you had an inkling of anything like an idea of what "systemic racism" was then you'd realize how dumb you sounded right there.

That's like saying "just because blacks are disproportionately represented in the prison population doesn't mean that it's racism" or "just because blacks are more likely to not have health insurance doesn't mean it's racism"...

the fact that black people collectively lost almost half of their wealth in the economic collapse while white people lost less than a 5th of theirs is an indicator of a deeply fucked up and racist society (yes, even in SPITE of the fact that Obama *cough*Harvard*Graduate*cough* is president).

And those are actually the MEDIAN household wealth. That's not even average! The average would have been even MORE skewed because of the extreme outliers of wealthy white people.

Oh...the reason for the racial wealth gap btw is because there is a much higher concentration of black and hispanic people in low-income urban areas with high crime, bad public education, and low opportunity. It's hard to break the cycle; if one is born into those conditions it is unfortunately more likely than not that he or she will grow up and live in those conditions, and have children who will do the same. Sad but true.

It's not racism.

Oh, by the way- the same cycle is true for those low-income areas that are predominantly white, such as some in the south.
