Well I might be able to help you out in a few weeks or so. I have a shared account with some friends and I just started using it. I'm the only one with good bandwidth so they never got any invites. The ratio was at .52 when I started, so far I've gotten it up to .7 in a week or so. It's much harder to maintain ratios with music torrents because everything is so small everyone just gets it so fast and I never am able to connect to peers. On demonoid and shit I don't have to try and I have a 10+ ratio. My UL is always maxed out from them, but not with waffles/oink (only music trackers I've used).

You get invites once you have a ratio of 1.05 or higher and maintain it for a couple weeks or so I think. PM me if you want, I may not remember otherwise.
