I should have clarified, it doesn't get much done in the US. This isn't Brazil.

A hundred years ago workers rights were established through protest, 40 years ago Jim Crow laws were brought down as well. Those are just two famous examples. America is not an exception

I should clarify my clarification. I wasn't suggesting that protest has never been effective in the US, simply that it is no longer effective. OWS didnt result in much. People protested the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to no effect. Maybe they've been effective IRT certain social issues. Just my opinion, don't let me stop you from assembling.

Well I'm not protesting anything that's for sure, the only thing I would protest right now is prohibition but the time isn't exactly ripe for that. Timing is a big issue I think, OWS had no goals or leadership it was just people telling the government they were frustrated and getting all glossy eyed over things Obama said.
Right now most Americans are too comfortable to protest anything, but if our quality of life goes down that'll change. So I guess we're saying the same thing using different talking points

I would agree. You hit rhe nail on the head regarding Americans being too comfortable to protest, myself included.

I actively protested Iraq war part 2. Fat lot of good it did besides me having the satisfaction of knowing that I at least tried. I'll take that to my grave though.
