What's disgusting is that you don't realize that she chose to do that.

What's disgusting is that you think what works in Canada is the solution for all.

What's disgusting is you don't seem to realize that some, if not most, of the people that ask those question are either too lazy, or too stupid, to go to the Doctor.

I have $20k+ due in ER bills and I haven't paid a penny, they don't even send me bills anymore.

What are you talking about, isn't your credit score fucked? I had unpaid medical bills from when I was like 19 show up 5 years later when I was applying for apartments to live at.

I don't think so, I rent places just fine. But I don't use credit for anything, I'm not stupid. I buy things when I have the money for them. Derp. The fucking doctor who treated me told me medical bills mean nothing. You can't be sent to a collection agency, you basically choose to pay them if/when you can.

On a side note, I actually needed urgent medical attention, so maybe that was why, although that doesn't seem right.

I didn't have a fucking hangnail, I was going to die.

Yes, I read. It doesn't change my response.

I worked many a year during doctors hours. I never had an employer that wouldn't allow me to leave the premises for a doctor appointment.

Is your employer keeping you captive? Should we notify the authorities?

I'm in a contract employee situation where I get periodically hired back to do various projects.  When the job's done, I'm unemployed for a bit until I get hired back again, which is by no means guaranteed and I'm very wary of doing anything to jeopardize my status as a reliable employee, even though I would be technically allowed to take time off to see the doctor.  It's a really shitty situation, actually, but I haven't managed to get any other work.

What if he hadn't gone to the ER, and it did become septic, and he eventually lost the foot. Ya'll would be calling him an idiot for not going to the ER.

An employer that doesn't realize a healthy employee is a more productive employee would be a fairly stupid person.

I'm replaceable.

Why you gotta get on my nuts anyway?  The whole point of the post is that I figured out that this was a bad decision and how to avoid making the same one again.

I too pay the taxes that help keeping the system free for everyone.

In what country?  And just what level of taxes do you pay?

I live in Estonia. The taxes here are quite high. The government gets around 75% of your salaries worth. So if you earn 1000€, the government nets ariound 750€. Quite high considering we have one of the lowest wages in europe. Free health care is the only good thing here, otherwise it's an shitty place to live.
I do like the country, it's beautiful, but the economy is a dump and it only gets worse as everyone is trying to flee this sinking ship.

The government takes 75% of your earnings and you think that what it provides is free?:picard:

Regardless of the funding source, IMO the solution to people using emergency services for bullshit things is to have walk-in non-emergency care available, ideally on the same site so that people can be redirected there when their complaints aren't really emergencies.

Are you daft or do you just not know anything about finance? When I say credit I'm talking about your credit SCORE. Do you even know what your credit score it?

Whoever told you that is a liar. I've had every single one of my unpaid medical bills from when I was a teenager sent to a collections agency. It does fuck up your credit. For a while my credit was somewhere in the 500's range because of it. I have never owned a credit card in my life by the way, have never been sued, and have never defaulted on any of my payments aside from those medical bills. A very good credit score is anything above 700. I don't know if it is anymore, because bills in collections only remain on your credit for 7 years or so.

The government doesn't take 75% of my earnings. When I earn 1000€ the governemt takes 20% of that, which leaves me with 800€, the rest is payed by employers, netting the governmnent 750€. Which is very supportive of sarting new businesses as you can see - the main reason why the economy is going more and more to shit everyday here.

Like a said it's an shitty place to live, I'm happy to get away from here in a month or two.

But I still consider my healthcare as an free service, even tho I know that the money comes from paxtayers pockets. They could freely use this money to fund one of their other retarded programs..
