He traded his life to inform the world of what the US government is.  He did something extremely selfless whether or not you agree with what he did.

Yes, whether you approve or disapprove of his decision, there is no question, he does believe that this was for a greater good, and he knew that it would significantly lower the quality and possible quantity of life he had remaining. He's no fake, even if you think he is wrong.

I feel tho it's only a matter of time before one of our hardcore mercenaries capture him wherever hes hiding and torture him for information. If we do get to see him tried in court i hope he either sticks to what he said or pleads the fifth leaving the system feeling like douche.

in the face while you sleep. Not like they cant do that anyways but it makes it much harder or them
to follow through with such an act.

Oh and how is betraying your countries secrets (which you agreed to do, whether or not you agree with what the government is doing) selfless? He's former CIA, he got the job with Booz Allen Hamilton 3 months ago with the sole intent of gathering evidence of the program. He's planned this out for a while and is definitely not an attention seeking media whore, any more than the civil rights activists in the 60s were for drawing media attention to unenforced laws in order to initiate action. The media is a tool to be manipulated, it's just usually the government doing the manipulating.

You'd support them so readily as to call him a traitor? These are the same people that keep those draconian drug laws around. The same ones who've started so many needless wars. They've sold off so much of America to bankers and corporate interests that poverty levels have sky-rocketed in a time of plenty, and still you would call someone who exposes their domestic spy program a traitor? Thats insanity.

Its pretty black and white really, not a whole lot of opinion can be thrown into it. He broke the law by committing a treasonous act.


Obviously i don't support everything my government does (especially the CIA NSA FBI), but I would definitely not do anything to deliberately harm the security of our nation. Like Snowden did. 


If you swear an oath to protect and serve the United States of America, You better fulfill that oath or pay the consequences.

Was it really that surprising of news to you that the NSA still does that kind of shit? I dont know if they have ever been open about it but ever since the patriot act went into effect i just assumed they were doing a bunch of shit like this. I don't necessarily agree with what was going on either, but the way Snowden handled it is wrong IMO.

My main question from all of this is how does some fucking loser ass highschool drop out, get into that sensitive of a position in the first place? This whole event should raise some serious questions in Washington about security clearances and contracts.


If Snowden did all that by himself (it does seem to me that he did it out of what he thinks was good nature, misguided albeit), whats to say there isn't a person or group with more malicious intent amongst their ranks (CIA,NSA,FBI, or even a private contractor)?

It seems like Russia and China just set the precedent that if you sell out the US government they will protect you. Kinda fishy times we're entering IMO.

Totally irrelevant but do a lot of Canadians follow American politics?  I'm pretty naive about whats going on up north myself, and I would imagine most of my countrymen are as well.
