1. how often do you let people test drive without credit checks?

2. if a person has no credit history, when you check it would you let them test drive?

3. if i showed the person a bank statement with like 5k in it, would i get a test drive?

4. how should i go about getting said test drive....especially in a way in which the salesman doesnt come with me

This sounds remarkably similar to the plot of "Death Proof".

Perhaps you should leave a cheerleader with the salesmen as collateral. Try to avoid playing "Three Masts", k?

If I came to your shop and punched you in the face and then kicked you in the giblets.... would you still try to sell me a car afterwards?

Alright, my car just crapped out, and i am opting not to put any money into it because i don't like it anyways.

I am looking for a small fuel efficient AWD used, either a van/wagon or small SUV/truck ... Leaning towards a subaru wagon right now, or maybe a Forester.

I will have to borrow a considerable portion of the money, althouh can probably get an interest free loan from my folks. I am debating on spending $3-5000 on something from the early to mid 2000's with 200,000km's+ OR spending twice that and getting somethingg newer with lower milage (100-150k)

So what are some things i should look out for? Is it worth paying a premium to buy from a dealership, vs. private? Any other versatile vehicles i should be on the look out for?

Also, would it be possible to "trade" in a motorcycle towards a car at dealership?

Do you get (clueless) women in there who have something to prove, meaning that they want to prove that they can negotiate for and buy a car without the help of a MAN.

Opinion on 2008 toyota matrix wagon?

It has low miles, is coming from a certified honda dealership, and he's offering me a trade in on my motorcycle.

Any advice on how to proceed?

1. A lot

2-4. Just say you're planning on paying cash=no credit check for a test drive.

I went looking for a new whip today and felt like I was basically lied to the entire day about the price and what not. I'm looking for a simply reliable Honda accord that's like a 2001-02 for around 10,000-11,000 and I know there out there. I wish I could catch someone wanting to trade it in and offer them the cash and get it done without going through a dealer.

also when you think youve found the one you want take it to a indipendent garage and have it checked out this may bring you more negotiation room. if the dont give you what you want, walk out, they will call you back.
scum of the earth i tell you. good luck.

2007 Toyota Prius... I'm green now.

I got all the options except leather because I really don't like leather seats in a car... But it's got everything else. 9 speaker CD/Sirius radio, DVD navigation, backup camera... it's cool as hell.

It basically came down to the test drive... I wanted to see the pickup, which is like any other small car. And I wanted to test the AC... I need AC, and even on just battery power it was cold and strong.

So I bought it. I should get it on Friday... WOOT!

What would you say to this poster?

So like the subject states, I'm a new and preowned car salesman.

"The non-sleezy type"

I've been doing this for 13 years and have held almost every position a dealership has to offer.

So if anyone in this AWESOME community ever needs any advise on any part of the car buying

experience including but not limited to pricing, financing or how to handle issues after the purchase,

please feel free to ask.

Have you ever had someone come in and want to buy some expensive car in cash ? If so what happen?

Usually you can save a considerable amount of money going private. This is especially important when buying a cheap vehicle.  Most every dealership charges a dealer fee ranging from $299.00 to $1299.00. Thats a lot when you're spending just a few thousand dollars. You are on the right track, vehicle wise, with the Subaru line up of AWD vehicles. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions regarding your future purchase.
