The Christian fundies can take over a whole country's culture in a way a suicide bomber can't. And I think that is far more harmful. All cultural absolutism can do this, and the damage is unfathomable.

Interesting that as I read this thread I simultaneously watch a fascinating documentary about why people do believe in religion. A longer documentary, but it might give you some notion to your questions.

This is important. Look, there have been zillions of threads on the nature of religion and society, most of them have added with the idea that says fuck this, not another religion thread.

Now. This IS important. Why else would people still post.

How do we go from here, knowing that we all don't agree? How can we accommodate this thing? This is important, in my opinion.

When I first heard that the new pope gave atheists the pass if they lived good lives, I thought why would anyone want to be Catholic then?

Then I realized what he was saying. Atheists have to be good to get in, but Catholics don't. They can buttfuck small children and just say a prayer, god will understand.

The only country I would be in favor of invading right now would be the Vatican. Someone needs to loot that shit for all it's worth.

Athiests don't get go to hell because:

Jesus came to earth and died to forgive the sin, all sin, past present and future of all humans. Therefore even if you don't believe in god, it's okay, because Jesus has already died to forgive your heathenism and you're going starigt to heaven.

So atheists, I'll see you in heaven because you have no choice at this point.

Alternatively you could go to pagan summerland, but be warned: it's full of hippies. :hippie:
