I used whole grain brown rice with my first 2 attempts at growwing shrooms. The results were okay, I got a few shrooms from it. You have to use casing though. I found that the rice dries very quickly if you don't. Also, unless you intend consuming those cakes, use verm in the cakes.

it works with long grain brown rice, i don't know if white rice would supply the proper nutrients
