I've never smoked just catnip, but I have smoked a bunch of herbal cigarettes(Ecstasy, Cannabis-Free) which have catnip in them. It does a whole lot of nothing.

Catnip tea is good for relaxing muscles and is often used to ease menstrual cramps. I'm sure smoking it works similarly too, but i bet it's too slight to even notice any effect if any. Also, i fyou're gonna use catnip i'd suggest using the flower buds, if you've ever see a flowering top of catnip, it looks like marijuana buds.

The smoke is rough, and less effective (in my opinion) than the tea. Plus the tea is so nice why make enemies w/ your lungs?

one time a few of my friends and i were just sittin around and they offered me a few joints to smoke w/ them. I declined because i had a cold and didnt want to make them sick, but one of my novice pot-smoker friends accepted. They started smoking it and i noticed it smelled nothing like pot, i said something and they snapped back quickly saying its dirt weed. so they let my novice pot smoker friend finish the joints off after they each had about 2 hits and not inhaling. About 15 minutes later my friend was saying how stoned he was and he wanted some food. All of a sudden everyone became hysterical (sp?) saying that it was catnip. But he still insisted he was high, i guess to avoid full embarassment.

Placebo effect....
Dr. Shulgin writes about an experience in the army where he shlugged down an unknown white substance at the bottom of orange juice that was supposed to be his general anesthetic for some surgery in the army, it was just sugar at the bottom fo the cup and he drank it and passed right out. He shouldn't be that embarrassed, cause if the tables were turned and they didn't realize it wasn't pot or were told it was some super drug, they'd probably be fucked up feeling too.

You guys can suggest what you like, but surprisingly I am currently stoned on catnip - i am well versed in the effects of weed, mugwort, leonurus, heimia and damiana when smoked, and i firmly believe that of these weed and catnip have the most activity.

What is joke?
Catnip tea is reccomended as a relaxant and muscle relaxer, said to be good for menstrual cramps. It's an overall mude enhancer and light euphoriant.
Smoking is reported have the same effect from many sources.

No this isnt a joke! It does do shit, and because your saying that emphatically im assuming you have never tried it. It certainly produces a stoned feeling and it is much stronger than anything dagga, mugwort, leonurus, heimia or damiana gave me when smoked. I didnt expect any activity so was quite surprised when i got bioassay activity. i woke with a shocking headache this morning though Let me tell you guys that Ive tried the tea and the effect was extremely mild if not placebo. I got very little out of it, and after trying a variety of plants in an attempt to find a weed replacement, ignore what your told, as most of it is shit: mugwort, leonurus, damiana and heimia all quite mild.

shit, i thought i have put a reply in here, am i going schizo?
i've tried once to smoke catnip but i don't think i have the necessary receptors to enjoy the substances in it (i think only the cats do!) and it didn't do anything else than smoked oregano would do. i think i will stick to a genus i know better, the cannabis one...
