possible contams in coolmist setup?

A friend of mine is thinking about using an old 1/2in. garden hose with his coolmist humidifier setup (like the mycotopia tek) instead of buying a new 5/8in. hose (Reduce! Reuse! Recycle! :wink: )

Is this possible, if he cleans it out thoroughly and disinfects it? or is this asking for contamination when he uses the setup in the terrarium?

Also, is it possible for contams to be sucked through the coolmist intake and put into the terrarium? or will the filter screen bacteria out?

Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

My friend is using a Vicks coolmist, and it has a HEPA filter right on it so I guess that solves my question :smile:

He originally bought it thinking that he would run it 24/7 and get approx 90% humidity, but after reading some Shroomery posts it appears that this does not happen. I guess hand-misting the casing layer is the way to go to achieve this humidity, and using the vicks coolmist for air exchange?
