RH problem in Martha- impeller humidifer drops RH to much
    #17822040 -

I'm having trouble keeping a nice constant RH level in my martha set up. I have 2 humidifiers, 1 impeller type and 1 ultrasonic. I have the ultrasonic hooked up to a zoo-med hygrotherm, So it kicks the ultrasonic on when the RH drops below 90%.

My problem is that my martha is having trouble holding in the fast humidity gains from the ultrasonic because impeller humdifier really drops the RH to like 77-80% When I turn off the impeller, then the RH holds and  stays around 90% a lot better, but once I turn on the impeller humidifer it drops immediately.

I added a bags worth of perlite to the bottom tray. I don't have any of my casings in yet, I'm just trying to work out theses kinks. My concern is that that ultrasonic is being kicked on too much and will soak my casings.

any suggestions or advice? As of now I'm putting the impeller humidifier on a timer to go on 40 min every 2 hours.

I bet that impeller makes everything excessively wet, does it not?
I would recommend either an impeller and a filter type cool mist, or an ultrasonic and a filter type cool mist.
I use the filter type on 24/7 for FAE and buffering of RH around 80%.
The impeller or ultrasonic will need the extra FAE to disperse the moisture in the oversaturated air, increasing humidity and not building up wetness all over everything.

Buy a pond fogger(Lowes), computer fan, and a bucket and make a bucket humidifier. Works really well.

I'll  bet what you're calling 'impeller' is actually a fan-type unit with a wicking filter.  If so, they won't go over about 70%.

In actuality, you don't need a mechanical humidifier for a mini-greenhouse.  Misting the substrates is sufficient and you can lay a sheet of wax paper or similar over the substrate for an extra boost.

Yeah RR you are absolutely right, I thought it was a cool mist impeller, upon further investigation, it says cool mist but it is not an impeller type, it's the evaporative wicking type.

After going to 5 different stores I could not find an impeller type, most stores only sell ultrasonic or evaporative wicking. I went to walgreens, bed bath and beyond, kmart, 2 local hardware stores. I finally just ordered one online.

Oh and it's not a mini green house, is the standard 60in tall , 24 in wide, 4 shelf unit. I should prob just take some pics to show. But hopefully I won't have this problem once my impeller humidifier arrives.
