Vermiculate Humidification Tek?

hello all!

i have a HUGE bag of left over verm and i figured what the hell am i gonna use it for... i was about to throw it out and open a bag of perlite when i thought shit why not try verm as a substitute for perlite...

well i tried it and honestly i thought it would work... i added a 2inch layer and applied a 1.5 gallons of water its damp the verm isn't floating in the water but if i squeez it with little pressure it drops alot of water... i misted and closed the lid came back in an hour 98%RH & 73 degrees i was like cool... waited another hour its down to 89% RH same temp... any clue?? im guessing it was the spray mist that took up the RH so high...

no biggie i have perlite but would have liked to put this verm to use...

so my question... with the humidity so low could i just put the cakes ON the top verm layer and still be ok? or should i say fuck it and use perlite?? if so i need to dump a shit load of wet verm and i have no where to do it at the moment...

The problem with verm is it can Contam when wet. So Perlite is the better option, I would say Dump the Verm and use Perlite, But you could try making it like a Huge double end casing with the cakes, Its just the contam risk here.

perlite it is then... say how do you guys with unclear tubs measure your water/perlite ratios
