After bulk tek?
    #1733752 -

AFOAF is almost finished with a bulk neglect tek. he was wondering if it would be possible to just add the straw/dung mix on top of the mycelium that is left behind, thus reducing the need for more spawn. Any ideas?

I'm working on a tek for that but I never got around to try it yet.I know people take the spent cake or cased mycelium and use it for a outdoors tek to try to get mushrooms out side.

monkeymagic, you may be able to get away with it, and you may get massive contams. If you aren't worried about contams at all, try it, or try breaking up the remaining substrate and mixing it with an equal amount of fresh substrate. Either way, you will have a higher chance of contams than with fresh substrate, but if you are just going to throw it away, better off to try it, right? I would recomend doing this in a hole outside for better chance of success, but that isn't applicable for apt. dwellers.

I'd be interested in hearing your results from the neg tek itself. I wish I'd had a chance to work with it more, it seems that some people love it, and some people hate it, where do you fall?

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

Well it's the first time i've seen it done... so i don't know yet. But so far it hasn't had any problems at all. I can't put them outside, because there is almost no humidity where i live. I'm just going to try and put the straw/dung on the old substrate and see what happens. I figure i might as well, might add something to the community.

SuuuuuWeeeeeeT. Good luck.

BTW, you might be surprised what regular waterings, shade, and tall grass can do for creating a very humid microclimate, even in a very non-humid macro climate. Anyway, good luck with the addition of the substrate, it's called "super spawning" by the pros, but they usually do it with unfruited substrate....

Good luck, trying to recycle used cakes never seemed to work around here, and trying them outside seemed only to feed the slugs and bugs for people I know.
