Hey bill,check about 15 posts up "another newbie question" by creamy. He asked a similar Q.
simple method but it works for me.

Ripper went to the Fungi Perfecti seminar a little back back and he was tought that your terrarium does NOT need to be steralized. If you get a contam it's most likely been in your cakes since you mixed up the substrate. It just wanted till the time was right to come out. I have always believed this before I heard him say it. I rarely ever steralize my terrarium unless it's really dirty.
