Ok, so I'm pretty new to shroom culitvation and I think I've got my plan down for when my 2nd set of spores come in the mail but I still had one nagging question until this afternoon. I couldn't figure out how to sterilize a terrarium. I mean they're obviously too large to boil and myself along with a lot of people can't afford a pressure cooker. I was going crazy racking my brain, the only thing I could come up with was baking a styrofoam container and hoping that would kill any bacteria. Anyway, finally I decided to ask a random person that just happened to be online at the time. Many thanks and much appreciation go out to Fiddler4U. He has a great solution for my problem. So for all of you newbies that have the same question I do, listen up. Take a spray bottle and fill it 1/4 of the way w/ unscented liquid bleach and fill the rest of the bottle w/ filtered water. Spray down everything and wipe dry. That's it. Again, much props to a definite contributer to shroom cultivators everywhere, thank you Fiddler4U.

woah chief. Dont put that styrophome cooler in the oven. A quick wipe down with alcohol will be enough.

sometimes my neighbor's cat gets contamned cakes in her terraria. she uses an even bigger rubermaid filled with bleachwater, about a capfull per gallon, and lets it sit for about a half hour. then, she gets me to scrub it out, cuz she doesn't like the taste of bleach. make sure you get all the bleach out of it cuz even a little will kill mycelium too.

Bleach is much more efficient than most of the chemicals out there including lysol, alcohol, windex etc.. alcohol evaporates too quickly to be as effective as it can be. But this is your terrarium we're talking about sanitizing here .. not your jars... but I would still go with bleach to be sure
