Hey all, I just had my jars pressure cooked at 15psi for 90min, let them cool for about 10hrs then injcested the spores, What I'm doing in bulk substrate. Anyways after the jars cooled, I sterilized each needle tip before each use, when I went to inject the jars I stuck the sterilized needle threw the filter and sprayed in a circular motion about 2.5-3cc of spore solution in each jar.....does this sound about right for starting incubation, My incubation chamber is a constant 80-82degrees and holds 7 jars...Any comments or help is greatly appreciated, Thnx

What is the substrate? Grain or brf? do you have a verm layer on top?

If its grain jars with no verm layer then it sounds fine :-)

I dont think you would have had to use that much spore solution! 1cc should be enough! One thing though, you should get a fast colonization by using more solution per jar. How big are your jars by the way? I keep my incubation temps the same as you, 80*-83*F. I inoculated 4, 1/2pint jars on 7/18, today their pretty much colonized on the outside. Sounds to me like you should do OK!

im guessing that since he was pressure cooking and had filters that he were probly using grains of some sort, and all that shit sounds great, theres nothin wrong with a big healthy dose of spores, especially if ur gonna g2g with them later, but if u line up all ur jars and act quickly its really not that necessary to flame the needle between each use,and its a real pain in the ass waiting for it to cool back down, infact the syringes r normally sterile when they come,the only time i flame the needle is when i have spore solution left over that i wanna use later

Yeah you can survive with only 1cc or less. I remember a guy posting buting 1 full syringe in each 1/2 pint BRF jar! Anyone else remember that?

wow, couldnt 90 min cook the substrate if its brf,verm ? But 3 ccs is what I used and it works good, even then I had a jar or two that only took at one innoc point so the more the merrier "within reason"
