What makes light growth?
    #1753781 -

I have 3 WBS jars and they seem to be growing, but the mycelium is very light through out the whole thing. does anyone know what causes this? I was thinking water content, but i'm not sure.
I can't seem to get WBS down, too many problems! please help, and maybe i can fix it.

with rye berries i have notice that if the jar is on the dry side the growth is lighter than if the jar is on the wet side, when the growth can get so thick that it makes it hard to shake, i would imagine that the same rules would apply when using wbs

Sure its growing mycellium and not cobweb mold? Not trying to be a pesismist, but if its "light mycellium" might not be mycellium at all.
Just a thought

So i checked my jars today, and wow, it's coverd in mycelium... so that means it grew through the bird seed real lightly and then bulked up. I wonder why it did that. oh well, now i have 3 fully colonized jars! yay!
