Cool fact for the day on the number of stars in our galaxy....
    #17404445 -

It is estimated that there are roughly 100 billion stars in our galaxy.

If you named one of these stars every single second it would take you 3,000 years to finally name all of them.

Well...Did the math (or shall I say googled the math) and there are only 94,670,775,648 seconds in 3000 years...not 100 billion.

So technically more than 5 billion 329 million stars would yet to be named after 3000 years of straight up naming 1 star per second (5,329,224,352 unnamed to be more precise).

:mindblown:

I got that interesting fact from the Dr. Feynman video below. He's a mixture of Carl Sagan and Neil deGrasse Tyson except there aren't a lot of videos on him.

You know, if 0.00001% have intelligent life, that's 1 million different intelligent civilizations.

You know that there are galaxies older than 13 billion years containing unfathomable amounts of star systems and planets while we have only had a mere 4.5 billion years to form.

Meaning that it is possible that there are planets that have had roughly 9 billion more years to evolve than us. A lot of life could have formed in that 9 billion year gap, far more advanced than us...

I am absolutely confident that there are far more advanced civilisation out there and they know all about us. The reason they have not contacted us yet is because they're in fact avoiding us to the fullest extent possible. And thats because of stuff like swagyoloshit, nicki minaj, the bible and psychedelics/nature being illegal :crankey:

If anything we should be grateful they haven't zapped us out of existence with their deathrays but they're too advanced to bother wasting energy and effort on such a putrid conglomerate of d-bags.

What if the probabilities of other life arising again out of chance are so inescapably small that we are all there is? 30 billion light years of unintelligent space culminating all its vast resources and finally bringing forth the final evolution of the chosen race. Nicki Minaj.

How sad would It be if earth is all there is? I mean the staggering difficulty of arriving at the minimal gene set necessary to produce basic RNA let alone DNA from 0 to 250 in one perfectly arranged accidental chance union, is so impossible as to render this singularity a Miracle. Thus, would probably never occur again. Chances are Dawkins is right in his Dire assessment of life on other planets, and we may as well get used to the idea of a lonely planet. Learn to get along at least.

"DNA neither knows nor cares. DNA just is, and we dance to its music." Richard Dawkins

If we are the only life in the universe then the chance of life arising in any given solar system would be 0.00000000001%

the microbial world was invisible to us until the invention of the microscope

existence is not subject to what we can observe

All I want in this life is to see aliens. Even if they come to annihilate us.

I just want to know they exist.

I like to imagine that the advanced extra terrestrials have visited us, but upon seeing how barbaric and uncivilized we are, said fuck it and left.

They'll be back when we learn how to survive without destroying our planet and stop fighting with each other.

Right on.

I don't know which notion is more daunting - that there are potentially-hostile superior lifeforms in the universe, or that we are all there is.

If they do come to annihilate us before I've had a chance to finish my current stash of cubes though, I'm going to feel like such an asshole. I hope there will be at least six hours' warning.

As long as there exist two slices of bread, and based on a loose definition of the word "between," the entire universe can technically be considered a sandwich.

Equally mindblowing (or perhaps even more mind blowing) is the fact that there billions of Galaxies out there.

I thought he said in the entire universe! That's just our galaxy? Jesus. That throws the statistics that I gave WAY off.

in case you haven't noticed, we're still in the process of evolving as a species

whether you agree or not, this is the best time to be alive as far as we know.

we are the result of 4 billion years of evolutionary progress. don't even start to think that it stops here.

just about a hundred years ago, black people were looked at as an "alien race"

right here in america!

we're all on this ride, and the ride is called "progress"
whether you were born in the 1500s, or the year 3892..

whatever time you happen to be born in, you are in the middle of great evolutionary progress

i'm sure aliens would understand this. i think aliens would be interested in whatever kind of progress we happen to be in..

because, it's not really about what level of intelligence we're at currently. that's not the point when studying something in the universe

if you take a look at the universe, and come across something on another planet that happens to be creating its own form of nature, whether it be an ant hill or the island of dubai, you're gonna have to think something interesting is going down..

something perhaps.... alien???

It is, for that reason, that I have no doubts that there is alien life out there, somewhere. I just honestly don't think it's going to visit us anytime, though.
