Schizophrenics tripping

I sort of have schizophrenia (it's been getting better lately since I started taking niacin everyday but I still wake up every morning right in the middle of my thought loops). It's more like a really bad attention span. Whenever I'm focusing on something it goes away and most of the time I don't really notice my thinking and it subsides. I was getting some really negative thought patterns and loops and for the longest time I would just pay too much attention to them and I was only feeding them, but I've been dealing with it better and I'm on a road to recovery. But anyway, any of you schizo's out there, what is it like to trip with our disease? If I eat shrooms, will it just bring my thought loops back? Is there really any point for a schizo to trip? I've already thought about everything about my life, my past, who I am, my deep dark secrets, the worst moments of my life, my family, society, and everything under the sun. In fact, I've done so much thinking in the last year that I don't ever want to think again. For such a crazy mind, underneath it all, I think I'm pretty stable. Maybe I've just been crazy for too long and I'm just getting used to it. I've been to hell and back. I'm not afraid of anything at this point, in fact, I'm a truth seeker. I love new revelations. It's always like putting more and more pieces of the puzzle together in my mind.

So is tripping worth it?

I definately think you are NOT skitzo, and i definately think tripping would be just fine, and perhaps beneficial. You run the risk, but from everything ive read that you have to say, you fit the description of a depressed person and nowhere near close to skitz.

i think u should trip. however, go to erowid and read up on it, see if u Med maybe cancels out the trip or intesifies or does nothing. if u find nothing- then shit, experiment.

Ill try and find the link at MAPS about psychedelic research for addiction therapy aswell as depression sadness and such. Reading about westminsiter hospital (who turned tim leary among many others on)...anyways, i read about how they would administer 300ug's of acid in a specially build setting with a psychologist present who would play certain "games" with people's heads i guess. One was, he would pull out a boquet of roses and say "theyre dying" and the patient would watch them frail and the petals fall to the ground and they would shrivil and die, then he would say "they're alive" (or something like that) and they would "magically" rejuvenate themselves into the brightest most vibranly beautiful flowers the patient had ever seen, and it gave them a new positive outlook on life.

On my recent 2g tripped ive mentioned a fair bit around here i just smiled, looked at my friend and said "im going to be happy", and it was the upward kick i needed, that was all i had to do.

Im not sure where im going with this, but if you arrange your trip the right way and lay out what you want to achieve because of the trip, i have a very confident feeling that it would improve your mental healthy vastly.

niacin cancels out the trip. It's what you take to abort bad trips. There's probably not much point in stopping the niacin for a few days so I can trip, because I would probably go psychotic without the niacin. I don't have any shrooms and I don't have any way to get them anyway. Maybe I should give up wanting to trip.

What about using St. Johns wort instead...? What exactly is the niacin doing for you? The St. John's wort is a herbal supplement used to treat depression...and the symptoms which you list off...its also an MAOI.

I dont think you shoudl give up wanting to trip, just dont obsess or worry about it, when it comes it'll come, and if you make up your mind, it will be great.

I've been on antidepressants but they don't work for me. niacin works pretty damn well with my chemical imbalance. I wish I had a nice big bag of weed right now.

What's it feel like to be depressed? Everyone always says I'm depressed but most of the time I run around and have more fun then the rest of my family. For some reason I can't cry or get emotional anymore. I don't feel sad. I'm pretty lethargic all of the time.

Well, i dont think ive ever fit the clinical depression model myself, but according to the doctor who put me on antidepressants that fucked with my head, i sure was. The negative thought-loops, dwelling on bad thoughts and having a negative outlook was my "depression"

this is interesting, u guys are describing my mindstate. but today i just had my first of 6 sessions with a psychologist. Today i basically told her my whole life story. The origional reason i went in there for was for anger managment but ive been thinkin i should use these sessions for more than that.

I went to a 130 dollar an hour councelour and a psychologist, the counselour was an idiot, and the psychologist said "i have to be willing to help myself" They did nothing and proved to be a complete waste of dollars.

Yeah. I see a therapist every few weeks. I go in there and I feel like I'm seeing a parole officer or something. Almost like she just checks me to see if I'm not going to kill myself. I can't even tell her anything or she might tell my parents.
