Trip eliminating drugs

Hello. First time poster, long time lurker... Recently we were at a show, a phriend was tripping pretty hard, and an "old-timer" noticed. He gave us some white pills, said to take 2 and no more than 7, to knock out the trip. He told us the name (chemical), but not to be remembered. He was an honest, well-wishing, generous head from years gone by only passing on wellness. Any ideas on what these are? Haven't taken or given any... made it thru the crisis on our own. Thanks in advance...

first of all, NO THORAZINE secondly, is niacin the same thing as niacinamide (im guessing yes)? because this one energy drink Venom has 100% DV of Niacin and 200% DV or so of Vitamin B3 ... maybe drinking one of those would bring you down?

niacinamide is the amide form of niacin (niacin = nicotinic acid; niacinamide = nicotinamide) ; the niacin can cause "flushing" (red, hot-feeling skin, due to pronounced vasodilation) which can be very disconcerting if you are tripping; however, the niacinamide is somehwat more "toxic" than tne niacin --- but neither of them is toxic until several grams are consumed all at once on an empty stomach... and it only takes a few hundred mg of any of them to abort a trip... and yeah, abenzodiazapene like valium or librium or xanax or tranxene or lorazepam, etc.... can slow things down pretty quickly as well, but "minor tranks" require a prescription... and you can OD easier on them than on vitamins... and "major tranks" like haldol & thorazine just sorta stop you from thinking... a bit too heavy, imo... as to %RDA... well, the feds figure RDA as the amount needed to prevent deficiency diseases (scurvy, pellegra, beriberi, etc...) which levels are generally a couple orders of magnitude below "optimal" levels (or levels required to correct for "intoxication" by alcohol, psychedelics, amphetamines, or mental illnesses like schitzophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, etc... really, pick up a copy of one of dr abram hoffer's books for info on mental illness & vitamins (or dr pauling, dr passwater, dr osmund...)

gnrm -- Any idea why/how niacinamide works to smooth out trips? Anything to do with it being tryptophan precursor(I think)?

well, niacin can spare demand on trp, but dr hoffer seems to think that it inreases level/activity of MAO... bought a copy of his recent book on B3, schitz & controversy at local healthfood store... niacin, samE, mebbe some other stuff involved in MAO biosynthesis... i dunno, could be interesting grad student thesis topic... all i know for sure (?) is that for most folks feeling "too high!!!", a couple hundred mg niacinamide seems to slow things down considerably, and several hundred mg seems to stop the wierdness... ymmv

Ive heard milk and other milk products because it coats the stomach and wont let any LSD or shrooms enter your stomach linning. And people do that for lots of different poisons so I just assumed it was true.

I think to calm down and to talk to a person you like is the best way to make trip nice again....
Your question: I think it's valium or some kind of benzo

I thought niacin/niacinamide was still an old myth?....Does anyone know how it would actually abort a trip?...
Of course i hear any benzo will help, maybe not completely abort the trip but possibly ease anxiety if things are going down hill.
Another thing to give someone if they're having a difficult time is using the awesome power of placebo. Just hand them anything, a random vitamin, Tylenol, fish oil pill...you get the point. But when you give it to them don't tell them what it really is, spin it off and explain to them that it will help bring the trip down or end it. You will be surprised how well this will work with some people, the power of placebo is strong.
I've never had to abort or end a trip, i don't think it would be possible to completely end a trip back to baseline...Psychedelics are mighty powerful. I understand certain situations arise sometimes and shit happens, but you should never have to abort a trip. Always plan out ahead of time and remember set and setting....

Well i could see milk, or any dairy product for that matter, coating the lining of the stomach and making the stomach less acidic. So if you drank milk before ingesting your substance of choice this would slow down the process of the actives getting broken down and into your system, but not completely block them from getting into your system. And i highly doubt that drinking milk mid trip is going to do anything....

This is off topic, but milk has a pH of 6 (slightly acidic) Also when milk is exposed to acid (stomach acid for example pH 1) the proteins denature and you get a semi sold chunk of protein and fat, and a whey (carbohydrates and water mostly). The semi solid protein and fat is sometimes called curd.
I mention this because people often think milk coats the stomach. If you want to see what happens to milk as soon as it hits your stomache warm some up and dump some vinegar in there. nasty huh?
Why do i know this? Well one of my organic chem labs this term was to purify samples of lactose, casein and butterfat from some partly skimmed milk.
I dunno if it'd kill a trip but i doubt it'd coat anything

I can tell you guys right now that niacin does not abort a trip. I use it in attempt to counteract the vasoconstriction of various chemicals sometimes.
