most people have no clue what brutality is, they seem to think everything a cop does is brutality

that's a good question.

but I do not hate cops I hate the laws they enforce, but if they are there to protect people from other people that would make them everyday heroes in a sense.

but the way it is now its like their also there to protect us from ourselves, wich is fucking bureaucratic bullshit !..

LOL

I'm a young white girl in a violent city that has decriminalized pot.

The cops don't bother me and I don't bother them, I feel more relieved than threatened when I see one and they have bigger fish to fry.

Somewhat. I'm still going to be wary of anyone who seeks out that position.

If someone broke into your house, stole all your shit, hacked your bank account and took all your money then printed an article in a national newspaper saying you are a pedophile, and the cops said "Sorry guy, he hasn't done anything illegal." what would your opinion of the cops be?
More importantly, what would your opinion of the law be?
Sounds pretty crappy to me, but you could get high without worrying about the cops bumming your trip, right?

You know, My house has been broken into 4 times in my life. The cops have never once caught the persons who did it, nor did they seem all to concerned about it. It was just a report to them. this is when I started losing respect for authority. They are not even really cops, more or less tax collectors.

cops dont do shit about slander or libel

cops take reports and little else, I had about $50k in tools and equipment
stolen, it was reported, even told them who took it and gave them serial
numbers, the shit started showing up in pawn shops and the fucker was never
arrested even though his name was on the pawn tickets and none of my shit was
ever 'recovered' and returned

cops dont protect shit

..Just out of curiosity, have you taken any steps to prevent this?
I've only ever lived in gentrifying sections of Philly where bars on the window are the norm...actually they're really the norm in all sections of the city. Friends of mine live in even worse sections, some of them have motion detector flood lights and security systems.

I've had a gun shoved in my face and have been robbed of everything I had on me.
I filed a police report and they were never caught - but I was also not able to provide them with the best information, it was dark, I was scared, they were pretty covered up and I was only able to provide a limited amount of info.

Would I want the police force in my city to go away?
lololol, fuck no!

Yeah, as far as I know those concern civil law and not criminal law. People don't get charged for those things, they get sued.

One time like two years ago on the way to the Shore with my now ex gf we accidentally got off 476 in Philly and winded up in Chinatown I guess... Because everything was written in fucking Chinese? Pretty sure I saw a couple crackheads before I turned around in some barber shop parking lot and started to use the gps.

Philly, city of brotherly love :ilold:

Chinatown is seedy but far from dangerous - when you go a bit north of there you get into my old 'hood which inspired the film Eraserhead.... Lotsa crackheads there. I used to wave hi to the ones by the underpass on my walks to and from work. Maybe it was the same ones!!!
:dawerp:

There are far worse neighborhoods, unfortunately. The crackheads never actually bothered me.

I'm from up in the poconos so I get scared by anyone who looks mildly intimidating or menacing in the city.

I grew up waaay up there too! Around Lake Wallenpaupack and then Scranton mostly, then my parents got out of the sticks but I was hardly ready for what Philly threw at me lol.

Ah, I'm borderline Poconos and the Lehigh Valley.. I'm about 30 minutes North of Allentown. Lake Wallenpaupack is a pretty place.

When I was young I always said I was going to move to a city like Philly because of the art scene but I'm actually petrified of cities.

I lived in the poconos for over 20 years, everyone there is from the city.  :wtf:

There was a decent amount of crime going on there when I left, and my dad was just visiting me in the midwest and told me that the Poc's are in a rapid decline.  So it will either get worse or better.
