I actually don't like the idea that we are pulled into the future.  Nor do I like the idea that we are pushed from the past forward.  To me the fact of the matter is that things are in motion.  To debate why things are in motion in such a broad way really seems like an attempt of the human mind to place the fact of change into a framework that makes sense to it.

To me it seems as if it is hard for the mind to just accept that it is the way that it is.  It has to have a reason that makes sense.  Yet that reason really just relates an explanation to some assumption that has already been accepted as true.

To try to explain what I mean, imagine electricity.  The fact is that it works according to certain rules. Now if you get right down to it, in order to understand it you'd have to understand what an electron really is and why any sub atomic particle behaves the way it does.  In order to truly understand why sub atomic particles behave they way they do you'd probably have to understand the entire universe as a whole.

Yet some might feel that it is true that we understand electricity.  For example
You might explain it to a lay person by talking about it in terms of pipes and pressure and flow.  They might say, "Ah ha, I understand.". You might explain it to someone else by talking about charges and stuff.  They might also say, "Ah ha".

So what did you do?  All you did was relate the concept to some assumptions that they were able to accept.  So now they can use the concepts, but to they really understand them?  Can't you always take the question one step further.  "Wait, why does an electron behave the way it does?". And before long you are right back to trying to understand everything about everything thing.

Nobody will dispute that things seems to change over time.  We can even determine some of the rules by which this seems to take place.  Yet When it comes to whether things are pushed from the past, or pulled into the future, I really think trying to pick either option is just a way for the mind to relate the concept to the whole big pile of other assumption about the world that they have accepted?
