Please help with my fucking printer!!!

So I have a Lexmark Interpret S405 printer that I've owned for about 2 years and I have never had any issues until now. The god damn thing keeps telling me it will not print until I replace the black ink, yet I have just bought a new cartridge and it still says this. Just about a month ago it was telling me I had no black ink as well, but when it still actually let me proceed with printing and worked just fine. Now that my black ink finally ran out and I replaced it, it will not let me proceed. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem by myself? What could I do to get this fixed? I'm a college student, so I need to print papers on the daily...

I guess you could have a look at the spot in the printer where the ink cartridge goes to see if there's something wrong with the electrical contacts or something. Searching the model number online could be another possible avenue to figure out what's causing the problem. Buying a new one may end up being your best option though.
