Never heard the term seed tick, but that is what I was describing in my last post. A tick egg sack has hundreds of babies, and when it hatches they all tend to climb the grass in a very small area and if you happen upon that spot, you get nailed.

Fortunately, these ticks are sterile and do not transmit diseases like Lyme.

cougars, bears and snakes get a page and a half.  The bugs got three  :rofl:

I have to say, I was much happier getting stalked by a bear and shot at by drunk kids than I was the last time when mosquitoes left me bumpy as the cascades.  Luckily that's about it for bugs around here, but ten years ago the low elevation flatlands of the southeast left me with a lesson about tall grass that I'll never forget...  hydrocortisone is your friend.

LOL I'm pretty sure tigers don't exist in the wild in the US. I will be in southern India. Big cats aren't commonly encountered from what I have read but there is always a chance in running into them.

Ive ran into a few big cats. Id say 100-150 pounds here in florida. Very scary. One actually stalked me for about 2 miles and all i had was a stick and a cell phone. And a bsg of cubes.

I got out of there. Same pace. Picked up a stick. I just kept looking back. I could hear it folliwing me from palm stand to palm stand. The area is basically pasture woods that is the entire interior of florida very sparsly inhabited. Pretty scary. They say panthers are rare. Ive seen 3

My only widlife problems are leeches, I hate them mofos like there's no tomorrow.

I encounter a fair few deadly snakes and spiders but unless you're stoopid they generally don't cause too many problems.

Roos are probably the next most likely thing to fuck you up in the Aussie bush but again unless you are an idiot they aren't too much to worry about.  You have to pretty much back them into a corner before they'll attack you, and they're really beautiful animals if you approach them the right way.

There is a new kind of mosquito repellent on the market, it works about as well as DEET but has no odor.  I got some at a pharmacy in mexico a couple weeks ago and I like it a lot.  It's not that all-natural stuff that barely works, it's a new chemical.  The name is Autan.

Keelbacks and rat snakes usually are quite maleable,



and the green vine snake, although mildly venomous probably never will bite.



Russells sand boas are kinda cranky, bite easily and throw themselves at you. So thats a no go on handling, in the wild anyway.


These guys really scare me. I wouldnt poke this guy. Plus they hiss. Loudly.


I would be wary of contact with some of the ants in Indian forests. Mango trees host some red ant species, so, wary of them too. Have some mangoes though before you leave.



And these guys. Ive been seriously hurt by several catterpillars. There Ive said it.


The most recent was a Russell's Viper. It was dead though. Not that I knew that when I was leaning into some plants where it was. So sad.



I wouldn't be afraid of the tigers stalking you, they are super chill usually and you can make friends with them. The leopards you should be careful of.

Often. Never in the wild though. And most often from the outside of a cage. Its not the best idea to go in with a cat, even if they know you or you know them. Unless you can be absolutely sure they will stop when you ask them to, or atleast not get pissed off when you punch them in the face. All cats hating losing.

A cat that size being playful could knock you down and take off a limb with a quick swipe.

For general attitude as a species, Ive found tigers to be usually friendly and approachable. Siberians are usually quite sweet, a bit less vocal than bengals, and somewhat temperamental. Sumatran subspecies is a little dodgy. Napoleon syndrome I think.
