These are all in an old water tank I practice in. Just something I do for fun that takes my mind off
the real world. Its on private land and no one really bothers me while I'm there. Not many people
see it either though, which lets me take as much time as I want to paint.

The tentacles were the first thing I painted in the tank. They're seven feet tall. The ponies are both
about six feet tall. The smoke painting is coming out of the stony pony's bong, and was done after.

i totally agree with waht your saying cow poo, he's essentially just doing dammage with the fire extinguisher. i was just highlighting that because int he graffiti world, what hes doing there is one of the highest levels of graffiti. people like him write that as more of an anti-establishment statement. like " fuck uncle sam " sort of thing. they don't like corporate america etc etc, they almost consider themselves freedom fighters or revolutionaries. some of them just do it for the buzz and kick. you say you get nervous painting bathroom stalls? imagine doing what kidult just did. it's a whole nother level. i don't know if you watched later in the vid, but he basically repells of the side of a building and does a massive spray tag on a wall, and he tags the freeway walls while driving his car and in full view of other drivers.


but yeah it is essentially just ' dammage '. i don't like the types of graffiti that is just vandalism and all that etc on private property and shop fronts, because its un-necessary and 90% of the time just looks horrid. i'm more about the professional art work and legally commissioned walls.


if you want to see some wicked professional and legally commissioned pieces being painted, check out a youtube video called " Ironlak Films ". Ironlak is a paint company that sponsors some of the best writers around the world to paint massive productions. really great work.


from listening to what you have to say, i think you'd be more interested in doing stencils and "paste-ups" as well. paste ups are great because, you can draw it all up and prepare it all in advance, and then you just paste the piece of paper onto a wall by just painting over it with glue. it doesn't really do damage at all, they can just scrape it all off if they choose to. but yeah i know waht you mean about the banksy style. thought provoking quotes and images. i think it's great dude and encourage you to keep on doing what your doing as long as your not harming private property etc etc. it's just sooner or later people start wanting to get their work out in places it's more likely to be seen and stuff.



heres a great documentary about graffiti, it's more just interviews and perspectives from writers, who work with a range of mediums. mostly spray cans and generic graffiti writers, stencilling, paste ups and even a guy who dumped a bag of leaves with messages and images drawn on them down into the centre of the city from a balcony as a form of graffiti.


goes for 1 hour, so you may just want to wait till your on a computer or something to watch it. eitherway video is caleld " Australian Graffiti Documentary "

the only bullshit I found in this thread is OP's opinion on someone else's work when he is doing the same thing practically.

i don't really do any work of my own. i mostly just go around and take photos of all the mad work i see. i'd have to say my favourite medium is definitely spray cans. its the original and the best, can't be beat. something about just seeing a wicked production that just makes you sit and think " how the fuck did they create that with a spray can ". characters are definitely my favourite as well.


but other then that i think i'm mostly digging paste ups and stencils. i definitely like banksy's style, with interesting and thought provoking images or quotes. generally i just like graffiti that i can identify with or understand. sometimes with some stencils and paste ups, the message or point of the work is just so far out there and obscure that you can't understand it and just think " what the hell is that ".


generally i'm against the damage aspect of graffiti - the tagging and bombing. the sort of writing where people write to "get their name up", but even so there is still great bombers and taggers out there with really fresh handstyles.

Yeah I don't really see the point in tagging. To me it comes off as a dog marking its territory. I'm sure theres more too the tagging. I really like banksy and he seems like the most loved and popular graffiti artist because he gets political and philosophical messages across to alot of people.
