thought i'd share with you all my drawing that i just finished. worked on it for a month or so and off. anyways, check it out. throw some critique at it. personally i feel it lost persistency on the right half where i shaded most of it. anyways, anyone wanna share their art too?

I think theres not really a fine line between "doodles" and "art". Hell, some of picassos shit could be called a "doodle". Personally I think its very beautiful, and so intricate. I also agree that the weakpoint is definitely the top right. It should have been similiar to the left side, but instead its too light, and not really bright enough.

What kind of pencils did you use? The yellow seems a bit more faded out than the other colors. Maybe go over all the yellows again or with a wax. It'll help pull the shading into the main picture a little bit

Heres some stuff i've done. I dont know how well you'll be able to see it cause its all light pencil sketching, except one which is a photo copy of a light pencil sketch. Kinda hate to post these cause you dont get the detail thats present when your acually holdin them.

I used to doodle in class a bit. Not so much anymore. As a kid I was pretty good for my age, but I stopped doing stuff, and my skills really never progressed. This is stuff from 2 years back, just bored in class - a lot of it is generic cartoony or anime-ish. ohs well
The rest of this is a bit silly, or just downright disturbing/gross
fun stuff.

That's some nice art people !
I used to draw alot but suddenly i stopped then started focusing on other things..
Ive had a hard time recently and i feel as if i'm just coming through that now. Ive been battling through my own ideas but i guess ive learn lessons i needed to learn. Maybe i should take it up again..
Here's some of my old stuff anyway,, i think ive posted some of these before. I'd put more in but i haven't scanned all my art into my PC..
I did those when i was 15, 9 years ago. Not abstract stuff exactly but still,, .

Loving the colors. Your doodle reminds me of a qoute I read. 'Abstract art is like jazz'.
Both are out of the ordinary and through out history people have had a hard time accepting it as an art form. I myself like to doodle but more surreal stuff. Maybe I'll post when I get home (@ work now). I have a few ideas swiming around in my head for an abstarct painting but haven't had the time or space to start.
I never thought of abstract as art myslf at first. When I was younger that is. I thought anyone can throw some colours on canvas or paper. But lately I have had emotional sparks from looking at different splashes off color (deviantart.com). Now I think that Abstract art is the only way I can convey my emotions. Emotions aren't structured at all and can't always be expressed through paintings/drawings of real objects.

graffiti!
i'm pretty sure that's the first time i've seen a member here that writes.
excellent.
i don't write.. but i love to look. luckily there is no shortage of pieces here.
how long have you been doing it? did you start by copying? i've heard that's how quite a few people start.. how hard was it to move to paint?

Started about 5 years ago, did I copy? No. Was I inspired? Yes
Its pretty hard to get the hang of painting, can control is a fine art. Plus getting all the ratios right.

Oh and you can never do enough sketching, I mean you can keep getting better after years of sketching everyday, letter form is limitless

what sort of art experience did you have prior?
i've always been pretty good at drawing (i've done it for money a few times).. i just never draw... and letters have always been trouble for me.
i do have the desire to get into graffiti, though.. i think i'll more than likely go the route of stencils and geometric stuff than letters in the end.

I'm pretty shit at drawing, my characters and backgrounds are left for others to do
Do what you wanna do, even if you suck at it. With enough practice you'll get better than you thought possible.

Thank you,, ive always had an ok attention for detail.
I use that in my gardening work these days, i think i'll have another go at drawing though.. My mum's very good at drawing, ive kinda grown up with her work around me...
When i was a youngster i used to have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles painted all over my walls. My mum did that for me and that looked pretty cool at the time !
