It's like a battle for intellectual supremacy on this forum..haha

Zappa's question is a fair question, but it doesn't have anything to do with this thread...unless you go with the notion that attacking romney is endorsing obama.  That notion is simply not true.  I am pretty sure there is a value in attacking a particular candidate in and of itself.

A much more important question is:  Why is this thread not locked yet?

The battle for intellectual supremacy has only just begun....

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!

That's a poor choice.

One is a known liar and racist, the other has demonstrated neither of those shortcomings.

One will lead us down a path of poverty. The other likely will not.

I see one as far worse than the other, therefore my path is clear to me.

Yeah, you had the same bullshit in 2008- all these people coming on here claiming they would vote for Paul for president, and chastising others for not being involved enough.  They didn't even know he wasn't running :foreheadslap:

Yes, 'tis sad.

In a day and age where information is so easily available, there's really no excuse for that level of ignorance.

They both appear to have little regard for the truth.  I don't really see racism as being an important factor in choosing the next president.

You're entitled to trust your crystal ball about future possibilities, but I have far less faith that either candidate will do anything to stem the expansion of the federal government and it's debt.

No crystal ball needed.

One need merely to be awake, to see one is better.

Fortunately, the "other" guys shall remain in control of the House, thus rendering the festering pussbag who currently holds office... semi-impotent.

A divided Congress, is a good Congress.

Quote:
Its not a lie to say one of those people will be president, it is a lie to say you have two choices to vote for.

Except he doesn't say that anyone has two choices to vote for. He merely says that "you" (the generic "you") have two choices. It is phrased a bit inelegantly, perhaps, but he is not saying that your only choice is to vote for one or the other.

Even with the inelegant wording, the underlying concept is correct - you can choose to act in such a way as to increase the chances of one or the other of gaining the White House in January of 2013.

Quote:
This false choice that leads people to vote for guys that want them in jail is making things worse.  Its a dillema every election- if you keep voting for who you don't want, you'll keep getting what you don't want.

It's making things worse? That is not necessarily so. At least, not by the time we get down to the presidential election. The time to make your preferences on policy known is during the primaries. We know that works - see the success the Tea Party faction had in unseating long time candidates they felt were too squishy.

The problem of course is that the available candidates will never match you perfectly on every single policy.  So when you try to "teach him a lesson" by voting for Ron Paul instead of him, what is he supposed to learn? That you hate his policy on drugs? Or that you hate his policy on Israel? Or that you hate his policy on the Federal Reserve? Or that you hate his policy on abortion? Or on gay marriage?

Quote:
All it takes is to make the swing voters a signifigant portion of the electorate and signify their support for particular issues, and the politicians will cater to them.

See above. You don't think politicians don't know already that they are likely to get more votes if they agree with more voters on various policies? The question is and always has been - which policies?

Quote:
As it is, the libertarian vote has allready been enough to throw presidential elections, and its getting bigger and harder to write off when constructing a platform.

Anyone who is an actual Libertarian (as opposed to one who will talk the talk but can't be bothered to walk the walk) will do all he can to ensure the most anti-Libertarian president of all time is not re-elected. And by doing everything he can, I mean not throwing away his vote in a futile gesture. Literally futile.

And of course, not all Libertarians agree on some quite fundamental wedge issues. Abortion, for one. Foreign policy, for another. The gold standard for currency. Hell, even gay marriage. So what good does that do to some politician trying to construct a platform that will appeal to "Libertarians"?

You don't need to win the election, you only need to be able to throw it...

Throw it to whom?

Vote Obama if you're sick of the charade and are tired of delaying our inevitable collapse. I'm sure he will expedite it.

Vote Romney if you'd like to see him "secure our interests" and piss off even more brown people before civil unrest engulfs the globe.

I really see next to zero difference between the two major candidates. They both support all the same evils. I might as well vote for Gary Johnson or a bowl or bran flakes for all the good it'll do. They're both just as bad as the other and both slaves of the military industrial complex.

About what? The choice is either Romney or Obama. Two people. Not three. Not four. One of two people will be the next president, and those two people are Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. In what possible way is pointing out this obvious fact a lie?

Its not a lie to say one of those people will be president, it is a lie to say you have two choices to vote for.  I challenged the later, and zappa's been corrected before without excuse.

ORLY?  I said this, exactly:

You have a choice between two people who will be President of the United States of America for the next four years.

One will actively attempt to expand it more than the other who might, just might, try to stem it.  One is guaranteed to do everything in his power to expand the federal government.  The other says he won't.  One is certain doom, the other is not.

First, you don't have any evidence to support the notion that my vote for whomever increases the likelihood of any particular president being elected....as a matter of fact, it makes no difference who I vote for as my state is not a swing state.

Second, this country's destruction was started long before obama was elected...and will continue long after he is out of office.  You can rest assured that whomever is elected in 2012, 2016, and 2020, they will continue to erode our currency and our freedoms.
