First of all, mental health is very different from physical health - our definitions of mental disorders are pretty vague ideas of how certain subsets of the population differ from so-called "normative" behavior. Anyone who has ever taken Abnormal Psychology has diagnosed themselves and all their friends with at least three or four wildly different disorders just from sitting around doing their homework.

That said, having known quite a few people who are mental health professionals or training to be MHPs I feel pretty secure in saying they were all at least a little bit crazy when they began. Some of them become more comfortable with who they are through their practice and some begin to have more difficulties dealing with who they are because of it, that's just the way she goes.
