universityscientific Hydroshroom kit just arrived

So my mother had ordered this kit for me this past Christmas and it never came in the mail. She was keeping it a secret to surprise me and after the fact, when she told me, I UTSE'd and ended up chewing out kindly  saying "DUDE I GOTS HELLA SPONSORS ON DA SHROOMERY YO, YOU SHOULDA MENTIONED SOMETHING OR AT LEAST GOOGLED REVIEWS A DA PLACE!"

So we thought it was a lost scam, and now, EIGHT AND A HALF MONTHS after the order was placed, it has arrived in all its Playskool-esque glory.

So my mom ordered Pheonix Oyster and White Morel multispore syringes. The kit came with these strange inoculation jars and no explanation of what they contain. They look like a mixture of sand and brown rice flour, but mostly sand.

I've read review after shite review of this company's product, but hey, they tossed in a free WeightMax scale, which saves me from buying one for my other endeavors, and either way, I have and :syringe: :syringe:

So should I go for the grow? I don't want to risk contaminating my current growspace with their nasties. I may as well knock up the jars? I was thinking I'd do three of the jars with P ostraetus Pheonix and three of the others with P cube Cambodian just for shits n giggles. Love to hear some input. Peace

Id start drillin holes in that bitch and turn it into a sgfc. Or take it outside and videotape myself killing it with a sledge hammer and put it up for us to see.

Yeah, I thought about that. It has a hole in the side for the "water heater" and one review said to caulk it or it will leak everywhere. I just don't like the idea of using these hydroton balls. They look like a bag full of  Mars. :rocket:

I don't think you can drill holes in that, but maybe. Who knows, it might just fruit a cake.

Does it seem like they sterilized the jars inside the packaging?
Or is that just a plastic baggie?

I like it.

At first I was skeptical about the substrate because I couldn't find anywhere what the jars contain. I think it's legit too, but I don't want to contam my space with moldy hydroton weird white shit on a couple of them. I think the rest of it are scratch marks on the inside of the bag, but there are a few [one visible in the first picture] that are almost fully white. I suppose I'll knock the jars up, maybe when I get back from moe.down or tonight even. If they colonize, sweet. Nothing to lose.

Think cubes would dig the hydroponicz?

The hydroton rocks & the jars are in ziplock baggies. I dunno what's with the condensation.

Sterilize them in the bag? I don't know what the process of making these is and if heating it that much would turn it back to clay mush.

I sold my shite pressure cooker and have yet to get a good one, but I can always do the pot thing.

You could probably boil hydroton without hurting it, it's fired clay.
But I could be wrong, I haven't tried it.

The contraption looks cool atleast. 
The only thing I would worry about is
FAE.  You may want to take the hood off
and fan it a few times a day perhaps..

me out is, "AS SEEN ON TV". That logo, for some reason,
always gives me the creeps.  I don't watch TV.

I've boiled it before and it is just fine.

I do it to clean my hydroponics hydroton and
it works well. To dry it just lay it out on
news paper. Or if you want to be more clean
leave it in a strainer.
