SAN JOSE, Calif. — Fire officials in California say at least 21 people were treated for burns after attendees of an event for motivational speaker Tony

Robbins tried to walk on hot coals. The San Jose Mercury News reports that at least three people went to a hospital and most suffered second or third-degree burns.

Robbins was hosting a 4-day gathering called “Unleash the Power Within” at the San Jose Convention Center. Witnesses say on Thursday, a crowd went to a park where 12 lanes of hot coals were on the grass.

Robbins’ website promotes “The Firewalk Experience” in which people walk on super-heated coals. Witness Jonathan Correll says he heard “screams of agony.” Fire Capt. Reggie Williams says organizers had an open fire permit and emergency personnel were on standby.

Is it truly any wonder I am a hardened skeptic and cynic when almost every single revered guru/self-help teacher over the last 40 years has been exposed as a charlatan?

The injured didn't believe enough. You can hardly blame Robbins for that. They got what they had coming. Next time, they should squeeze their chakra properly before starting the walk. :shrug:

Even having emergency help there would kill it for me.  How can you believe with doubters present?

Hell, I think that would be an awesome comedy act. If someone got a mannakin and played an Anthony Robbins tape while making the thing 'talk'. That would be hilarious as fuck...

mannakins or whatever you call those puppets u stick your hands in with the shiny cheecks and the glassy eyes and the fake Robbins cheekboned skully smile...

Haven't seen him in a while, he seemed pretty slick huckster, but I never saw him slip into anything I'd call charlatanry. Tis a shame his infomercials were mildly entertaining, though I haven't watched any in quite a while, this news is :feelsbadman:.
