Tom Robbins.... on mythology

Robbins always has an angle on the world that I understand and appreciate. Which is why I constantly talk about him i guess.

but anyway...

in his opinion, mythology is not history... nor is it fictional.... nor is it an amalgamation of the two. He sees them as proverbs in a way; a story which describes a facet of mankind, which relates to all of us, all the time.
He claims, that when mythology falls into "history" and is viewed like that, it becomes not only useless, but dangerous. The crucifixtion of jesus christ is an example he uses. While that story should evoke a personal cognition about spiritual rebirth and such, but when viewed as a historical event it evokes merely a fictional epic and an external personification on something that you cannot attain.

tom robbins is one a the more enlightened authors i suspect. Feirce Invalids home from hot climates is a great book. He has constantly and consistently had a hand in helping my refine my present angle on life. Everywhere i roam I try to roam two inches from the ground.

Anybody who is a fan of Robert Anton Wilson is ok in my eyes. Tom Robbins is a huge fan.
