Extremely Vivid Dreams. Some easily Confused with Reality?
    #16552247 -

Recently I quit smoking marijuana on a daily basis.  I was an extremely heavy user, from January to June I'd smoked nearly a QP a week due to a free near infinite source of it.  I started realizing I was kind of wasting my life away through watching how my roommates lived and then i started observing how i was living.

Since i quit though, I've been having some of the most intense and vivid dreams.  I have been taking a small dose of melatonin on occasion because I've had issues falling asleep, but I don't think this is what's contributing to my dreams, as for the past 8 years that I've been a chronic smoker, my dreams are rare, few and far between.

Has anyone else had this experience?  I've created music in my dreams (stuff that I could recreate and would sound cool if I knew how to play a guitar), felt pain in my dreams.  I've done things that were of my own choices in them, and I remember vivid aspects of them, more vivid than when I was a child.

I recently stopped smoking weed as well after daily use for about 4 years. And the biggest change I have noticed has been my dreams. I have always had fairly vivid dreams but since my sobriety I've experienced the craziest vivid dreams. Recently I have been able to wake up and remember multiple different dreams in one sleeping period. I have greatly enjoyed these vivid dreams and it is one of the main reasons why I don't want to start habitual use again. I think once I become accustomed to the vividness I will be able to reach lucidity much easier in my dreams. At least I hope so.

This is what I'm hoping for as well.  Being able to make some decisions in dreams, to have it feel so real, to see things as if I'm actually in the places I'm dreaming about is an amazing thing.

This is very common as THC interrupts REM(rapid eye movement) sleep which is the cycle of sleep in which dreams occur.  Smoking makes u not dream or it makes dream recall difficulty or at times impossible.  Immediate disuse of marijuana smoking will cause extremely realistic and vivid dreams because the REM sleep cycle returns 2 fold once thc is leaving your system.

for me the dreams start getting intense about the time the thc is out of my system, and also horrible night sweats. i did have a nice nuclear war dream last night though, so i know i can still dream while smoking.

Yeah it started about a week to ten days ago.  It's been about 3 weeks since I've stopped getting high at all.  Going on the 4th here soon.

:highfive: I am experiencing the exact same thing.

My dreams were amazing last night, I am looking forward to dreaming again tonight.

Oh wow I don't even want to go into my dreams just in case certain people read this post but it was fucked. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

This is a reason alone for me stop smoking weed - to trip out in my vivid dreams.

dreaming and reality for me are so close anyway.

i can lucid dream almost whenever i want. if you can lucid dream on command (almost on command) then figuratively you have a VR machine at your beck and call every night. i look forward to sleep for more reasons then just sleep. it's the ultimate escape, with no consequences.

Every god damn night.
Sometimes, even if I have a heavy night of drinking out&about, the dreams will conflict with what I got up to, and i'll be really confused on who I saw the night before when I wake up. Don't even know what to think half the time, fucked with a decent amount of my memory, which is ironic

What you're experiencing is common. Almost everyone I know and many I've heard from that cut back or quit cannabis go through vivid dreams.

I smoke small amounts of cannabis daily, 0.1g a day to about gram a week. As far as I can tell my dreams have not been affected too much by cannabis, I still remember my dreams almost every night and lucid dream at least once a week....The times I have gone a couple days with out smoking I do notice an increase in intensity and experience even more vivid realistic dreams.

I've always been an intense dreamer though.

Lately my dreams have been some of the most vivid of my life, to the point I am convinced my dreams are reality whilst within them. I have been dabbling with DMT lately though, particularly before bed, no doubt that's the culprit. If my friends so happen to be in my dream I will accuse them of or ask them if they dosed me (Thinking it's reality and that I've just been dosed super heavy). But once I become fully lucid I realize it's a dream and it is not so disorienting, and can navigate it from there.

Last night i had three dreams that seemed to flow into each other but had no connection. The first one was me and a group of friends were riding cross country on adult sized big wheels that went incredibly fast. And every store we would stop at would be a giant thrift store with amazing selections. Like one was a store full of old boomboxes stacked to the ceiling. So we bought one and bumped it while riding the big wheels.

The second dream was at my college campus. Everyone was swimming in the lakes around my college (something that no one ever does. these lakes are nasty!). I mentioned something about no one doing this before and everyone just looked at me really strangely. I actually became self conscious after this and don't remember talking much the rest of the dream.

The third dream was at a movie theater and I was meeting up with some friends who I haven't seen in a long time. For some reason I was wearing a suit. We were seeing an Imax movie that was like a combination of the matrix and inception. It was very vivid and like nothing I've ever seen, very mind bending. Halfway through I got this anxiety where I thought the movie was getting too intense and I woke up.

I love dreaming!!!!  :solidnod:
