have to leave colonizing jars for a long time...
    #1651868 -

i have 12 1/2 pint brf jars colonizing right now. about 6 are between 30 and 40% colonized, the rest are between about 0 and 10% colonized. something came up and i am traveling about 2,000 miles away from home in only 2 weeks (i should mention, the colonization period is going SLOOOWWWWW...i used just a little too much water during the mix...theyre colonizing...just very, very slowly). ill be away for approximately 4 weeks. what the hell am i to do with my jars?? the extremely slow colonization period screwed up my plans. would my best option be to leave them in their incubator and let them colonize and fruit invitro while im away?

thanks,
emco2

well, Ive got a similiar problem, and am leaving two jars alone for 6 weeks.
I was going to keep them cold, just over 0 degrees. That way growth will shrink to a minimum.(According to [url:http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23276]shroomery chart/[url])
I ahve rethought with a friend , and we are going to spawn some straw and dump them into the forest. (We?ve still got to weeks)

You could also try putting them in your refrigerator. The colder temps with stall growth to a crawl and will not trigger pinning as long as your refrigerator light really does go out when the door is closed.

The only problem I had when using this stalling technique was the jars drying out somewhat. Place tape over the holes to prevent it. Since your goal is to stall, air exchange is not a factor.

The longest I've tried this was two week on two separate occasions. I can't vouch for longer periods.

Why not case them as kits and carry with you.... They'll be safe since you use thin foil and stretch film. If you use your imagination, u can use anything as an incubator(or terrarium)... (just take your fish tank heater with you) So you can move as planned.... Just an idea!

I?ve kept jars in the fridge for months and some people have gone as long as a year without problems.

It's also not very practical to care for crops in transit.
