How to reproduce mushrooms in the wild, found in the wild.
    #1611631 -

Im not sure, but there are these 2 small phallic-resembling mushrooms growing outside my front door in the grass/dirt. I beleive these to be p. cubensis or some sort of mushroom I can trip off of because it looks a lot like the pics I've seen on erowid and here =). I live in FL.

I was wondering, since there are only 2 of these babies growing, if I could somehow reproduce them to grow all around my house so I'll be living in mushroom kingdom plz post =)

I don't have a digital camera, but my friend has one I might be able to use, will post pics for identification later, but for now Im wondering if there is a way I could cultivate them without indoor-cultivation (like if I could just sprinkle the shrooms around or something?).

take a spore print.
wait a few hours, then take another sporeprint.
wait a few hours, then take another print.
the 3rd print should be clean.

just make sure you properly identified them.

Or take a chance and harvest one and clone it. There are some recent topics on cloning, as there are several usable cloning teks which require no funky tools, just plain household stuff. However, the spore print method seems safer to me.

yer prolly talking about dr. rush waynes peroxide manuels...
was going to suggest somethin along the lines of that,
but thought again becuz his newbieness....

i think he should germinate his spores using the cardboard germination tek...and then put it on peroxidated agar.

do you really think this newb would understand what im talking about? or where and what to do with the info in the quote above?

Once again I totally agree with you fortyounces. I also think just spore printing and then PF Tekking is the way to go, especially when you're a relative newbie. It's just the safest way, as it allows for several tries!

if starting with a culture or such and not spores i would jump straight to the peroxidated agar.. take the cloning material and let it soak in peroxide then transfer to peroxidated agar...thats just  me talkin though..

I bet you a million bucks that its not a Psilocybe cubensis.

To the untrianed eye, many mushrooms can look similar to a cubensis.

The main characteristics for a Ps. cubensis are:
Carmel brown cap, gray gills, white stem, a veil, purple-brown sporeprint and bruising upon handling. They will be also growing on cow pies...not in grass/dirt in your front yard.

We need more information on this mushroom to properly identify it as well. Take a spore print and we'll go from there. If the cap is whitish and there is a white stem something tells me that it could be Chlorophyllum molybdites a common, poisonous mushroom which grows in the grasses in Fla during this time of year. Sporeprint should be grayish olive to grennish. However this is just a random guess with almost nothing to go off of except your climate and habitat and time of year.

I wouldnt even think about cloning it, or trying to grow it or whatever...you've probably got something that isn't worth that. Unless its somesort of Panaeolus, even then it would be only slightly hallucinogenic at best.

DO NOT EAT!!!!

Taking 4 sporeprints won't really help you in determining anything... 1 will work fine... hehe

Oh, and if you just like the way they look, let them be. They will reproduce fine in their natural habitat.

I'd guess the first few would have been exposed to outside (contammed) air at some point in their existence, but then the 2nd and 3rd print are gradually better, 3rd being the best, because of the lack of outside air they're exposed to.

It makes sense, but I've never heard of it either.

I think I'll just stick with my peroxidated agar, that technique sounds like a load of bullshit to me.

But what about the lamellae, pileus and possibly the stipe coming in contact with the surface your printing on ? Surely they would transfer contams onto the the foil/slides etc ?

Ive never heard of someone printing the entire mushroom before. The pileus, or cap is needed to make a sporeprint. Of course you wouldnt have the stipe on it, you couldnt make a sporeprint.

I've used outdoor prints before without any problems. Plus, there is no reason why he should even try to cultivate a mushroom which is probably of no use. There in no way in hell a Psilocybe cubensis be growing in his lawn.
