People with headphones

Why is it that people wearing headphones never bob their head, tap their foot, or show any bodily movements of musical satisfaction? I find this to be very bizarre. What is everyone listening to, the most mundane classical or something? :assimilate:

There were these two gangster dubstep girls who came onto the bus with headphones around their neck, dubstep playing at full volume so the whole bus could hear. It was the coolest thing I've ever seen.

I would assume because those people buy quality headphones so they can zone into music, not casually walk around with a beat in their head to tap to.

When you "zone in," don't you unconsciously move to it though in some way? Maybe everyone is listening to random static noises. Or maybe everyone is listening to beatless brostep. :justdontknow:

People at my work were laughing at me as I was bobbing my head with earphones in.
I do it all the time, but I guess other people don't want to be laughed at?

Yeah, that's definitely a possibility. I jam the fuck out in the coffee shop and people give me strange looks all the time. I think they're just jealous.

I don't understand how anyone can even wear headphones in public, I feel like I'm missing out on the world just to hear some song I've already heard 1000 times at home.

Because the music I listen to is incredibly bad ass...

Really though, I'm just saying I don't like to seperate myself from my surroundings like that. Yes there are plenty of stupid people having stupid conversations, but there are still plenty of cool people that I come across as well. You never know when you'll be in just the right place at the right time and have something badass happen, I'd hate to miss out on something like that because I was stuck in the chorus of some song. Also I feel every moment in life is a learning experience, I can take a lot out of just observing my environment.

I personally think a lot of people with headphones just want to feel cool, like those 2 girls referenced in the beginning of the thread who had their music turned up for everyone to hear, like "I'm so much cooler than everyone else in the world listen to my music"

I only really listen to headphones at work, and everyone I work with is a complete idiot or a total asswipe.
Although I don't walk around without headphones on when I am going from point A to point B and nothing badass ever happens. I never meet cool people, and I don't see how wearing headphones would effect that. It's not like I try to interact with every person I see on the street, or any at that.

I play my guitars and sing through my sound studio headphones. I tap my foot and move the hell out of my body, how in the fuck would I be able to keep rhythm if I was a stiff in a chair? I especially wear headphones late at night when I play electric guitar or bass, or every cop in the city would be over here complaining about the noise.

But since I have been doing this for so long, i unconciously tap my foot and move even just lying down listening to music. hardly think about it.

I sort of groove about. I tend to get into this wormy side to side motion, keeping pace with the tempo of the music and possibly tapping my foot. I don't head bang or do anything too outlandish but sometimes the music has to take a little control away.
