It really is incredible how much of a difference headphones make when listening to good tunes. The depth is just incredible.

I love finding headphones that really do a great job of crisply capturing the stereo effects in music too..

What are you guys listening through? Like, which brands and models? I am looking into getting a new pair. I do a lot of pleasure listening but also do a lot of mixing/mastering/editing.

I really prefer Sennheisers, though mine broke and I'm using some 5 year old crappy Sony's a friend gave to me for the moment.
These are great though I find the shape of the over-the-head arch a little weird sometimes.

Eventually I want to have one pair of expensive, high-quality Sennheisers for home use, and another cheaper pair for portable use.

Sennheiser headphones are a-fucking-mazing. I recently destroyed my pair and am also using a pair of Sonys. But my god do I miss my Sennheisers.

I've found that when it comes to headphones, it tends to be a matter of personal taste.
IMHO, Sennheisers are pretty crappy (I've checked out SEVERAL models from $60-$600) and NONE compare the quality of my former JVC HA-D810's or my current Stanton DJ-PRO 3000's.
I love my Stantons! Best headphones I've ever heard! (Yes, they're a bit bass-heavy, but I like that.)

I can understand liking another brand better, but do you really think $600 Sennheisers are "crappy"?

they are i swear you hear like the paper cheap sound humming on the outside, and it almost sounds like it is mono, but not really.. but 1 dollar headphones make you happy anyway, because it drowns out the sound of the outside world just as nice.

Compared to the Stanton DJ-PRO 3000's, side-by-side, YES. Overpriced JUNK!

I've tried a variety of headphones, my friend is into all that media shit. Anyways, Sennheiser are by far the best I've ever tried.
Also, the reviewers tend to agree. Look up Sennheiser reviews. They are always praised by all critics.

Don't get me wrong. There was a $250 pair of Sennheisers that I was tempted to buy, but once I heard the Stantons, it was all over. I bought 3 pairs. Money was no object. I just wanted great-sounding headphones.
I'll put my Stantons up against ANY other headphones, any day! They fuckin' ROCK!

Sennheiser HD280 (~$80) beat the shit out of my Sony V6's. Other than that, I do like my CX-500 canal phones as well, the isolation is phenomenal.

If you can catch a sale the headphones I posted earlier are great. They can bump.
