noise canceling headphones with good bass?
    #12252154 -

recommendations? I would use them primarily for studio work with electronic music.  Apartment life calls for a good pair of headphones.

I would skip the active noise canceling part.  It's great for airplanes and such, but it doesn't produce a nice clean sounding headphone.

If you want blockage from the rest of the world, I would seriously look into canal-phones.  I have a pair of Shure e3c's, and I can't hear shit with them in and the music on.  My wife walks up behind me (not sneaky or quiet mind you) and scares the shit out of me on a regular basis, because I really don't hear anything outside the music.

IMHO

I Really like the feeling of having something around my ears....It makes me feel like I am a completely different space, plus I am going to use them to EQ, which means I need a proper speaker with bass response.

I get better "sounding" bass from my Shure's than my Grado 80's.  But I don't know if that counts as proper.... I just listen

How much are you willing to spend for a good pair of headphones is the question.

I'd go with Seinheisers, they have never let me down.

I use bose quiet comfort qc2 noisecancelling headphones off of amazon for like 150 bux Used.

The pro's are that the sound is really good. Like the absolute best in terms of headphones which I ever tried (these are the highest end headphones i ever bought)

The cons are that these headphones are flimsy as hell, and I cracked em by accident and they have to be heald together w/ duct tape

By the way, Noise cancelling headphones require a triple a battery in order to be used.

These headphones (bose QC2) require a triple A battery to be turned on and used at all, and as the battery power drains you can't turn your music to full blast.

These headphones are comfortable and all, but the fact that they are super flimsy and that you can only have your music at full volume for like 3-4 hours before changing batterys really sux (battery life span around 20 hrs total, but you can only have ur music at full blast for 3-4 hrs, after that u have to keep decreasing the volume from time to time or else they turn off automatically)...

If ur at home the noise cancelling isnt really important, but it is a pretty cool feature to have.

i have a pair of shure earbuds too. the shures are nice but they will not compete with the beyerdynamics.

I guess that is a lower priority feature, but at least a exterior noise dampening would be nice.

You know, my buddy just bought some of the Dre phones.  I sure made fun of him.  (And still do).. But they actually sound pretty good (don't tell him I said that.)

they sound ok but not for the price you pay.

same goes with the bose QC2/3.

you can get a pair of Grado SR60s for less than half and still have an awesome set.
