Good headphones under $60?

Does anyone have recommendations of some decent headphones? I've had two pairs of skull candys that have crapped out on me because of the chord near the plug messing up. So skullcandys suck. Anybody know any good ones under 60?

I got Sony's MDR-V500 high quality worth the 99$. Sony has a wide product line, you can't go wrong.

Sony would be up there in last companies I'd look at.
OP, depends on what you need. Open, closed, over ear, IEM, on ear, etc.

I have skullcandys and never have a problem with the cord. do you wrap them tightly around your mp3 player or something? other than that, sony or I think bose has some under $60. Samsung is great too. I got my samsung bluetooth for $65. Its a regular bluetooth earpiece but then it converts to headphones and also has a male and female headphone plug adapter so you can run your own bluetooth headphones if you want. I love it, use it all the time. It even connects to both my ipod touch and my cellphone together, and when the phone rings automatically mutes the ipod,

I bought some $40 in ear sonys that were crappier than the skullcandys I had before. So I dont think I want sony. I prefer in ear since I'm mostly gonna use them for working out.

Shure SE215 - they're a little above the price you mentioned at $100, but they're the best IEMs for the price IMO.

I'd rather have a pair of meelec m6's than a lot of the headphones mentioned in here. And yes, I have listened to sonys before.
In ear monitors can also sound quite good, ever hear a pair of westone 3's? (way out of budget)
the superlux i recommended + a cmoy would be plenty to get you started if open is okay. If you need closed at that price point used hd280 or IEMs are the way to go

This man knows what he's talking about. People blindly recommending Senns and whatnot without putting down models is not very helpful. If you don't really know what you're talking about you're going to confuse OP.
You can find some used HD280s for $60 sometimes, and like I said for IEMs Shure SE215 is great value.

the samsung bluetooth I was talking about is the hm3500. the headphones that are included are in ear headphones. (plug into a micro usb on the bluetooth, about 12" long headphone cords, with a clip on the bluetooth to attach the bluetooth to your collar). Its noise cancelling which is great for me cause I use them in a noisy environment a lot.

Yep. Damn nice phones, the M-30. But for exactly $60 I would recommend the Audio Technica M40FS cans over all others.

No cans under $125.00 I've listened to come anywhere close to the accuracy of these phones. The ONLY downside is they are 1/4 inch phono plug, so you'll need a three buck adapter for your MP3 player.

The best cans i've heard are around 125$... destroy even the hd650s (havent heard the hd800s so I cannot say), k701s, etc. AKG sextetts (middle production), they are 600 ohm though so you need good amping. Another set I would like to hear would be the k500's from AKG, supposedly like a mix between the sextetts and the k701 which sounds wonderful.
But, if you factor in amping and source, well out of the budget.

often high end cans are very high impedance. Some like the HE-6 are low(er) impedance at like 80 or so ohm if i recall correctly but they also require a fuck ton of power.
Most the cans that interest me though are at least 150ohm

Dont get the Klipsch Image S4. They sound like a tweeter mounted in a fat lady's labia. I don't know too many headphones in that price range, I know there's a lot out there.

I just bought the Klipsch Image S4s and I like them. They are supposedly the best earbuds under $100 according to CNet. I like them. They sound different at first but you get used to it and they sound good.

That's what I've been mixing and listening with lately as well I love them.
Though I took a listen through my friends 650's the other day and those are definitely a step up from the 280s sound quality wise... probably quite a bit more expensive too and not as good in noisier environments.

Sennheiser uses plastic head bands that can crack over time if you don't treat them extra nice. Mine sure did, but that happened before the ear pad broke open and started leaving stuff that looks like potting soil on the right side of my head when I used them. These are headphones that never left my computer desk for a few years.
