does marijuana effect dopamine?

If not, can someone enlighten me on how THC and the other cannabinoids work on the brain?

If it does increase dopamine that would explain so much, about the burnt out feelings people can get and the overall change in perception.

No effect on dopamine. They work through specific cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2. So they work on the endocannabinoid system.

Yeah seriously, I was under the same impression too.

I get sudden surges of motivation when I smoked.

The cannabinoids receptors must have a similar effect on motivation than dopamine then

am weed Definitely makes me delusional, so this would suggest to me that it does effect dopamine, or the doctors have the whole skitzo cause and effect thing wrong

Sounds like a crock of shit to me. I mean wtf do you think these systems work in isolation or what :dudewtf:

In a nutshell cannabinoids "shut-down" some GABAergic neurons which inhibit other, dopaminergic, neurons. So yes cannabinoids lead to dopamine release.

Dopamine cause im craving more. Serotonin doesn't seem to affect me in that way, at least compared to dopamine.
