It's gettin to be that time of the year. BIKES OUT!
    #15843513 -

The winter seems to be coming to an end, which means my biking withdrawl will also be ending! Last year the farthest I got in one day was 80km, this year i wanna go for at least 100 as I think that would easily be possible. I think I am gonna bike up to cottage country and maybe the great lakes! I am so fucking stoked! I have a whole season ahead of me, i gotta start training SOON!

Someone gave me a fixed gear bike but I never really got used to the feel, ended up switching the rear wheel for a 3-speed and now I'm pretty happy with it. I haven't attempted a long distance bike trip in several years but the best I did was about 150 km in a day on an old 10-speed. If you're on the road from pretty early in the morning then you can cover quite a bit of distance over the day without having to sustain a very high pace.

It took me 4 hours to cover 80. Well 5 including a break in the middle. Weed makes biking exponentially easier.

Yeah the break in the middle is key. I like biking stoned but I don't know if I'd want to be too stoned biking along an 80 km/h country highway.

I've got an i-Drive GT mountain bike, scored it on craigslist for a decent price. I try to get out and ride at least twice a week. Right after winter is the best time to ride. Green grass, green trees, crisp air.. ah

If you want to get an ok bike for almost no money then look out for one of those old retired guys who sells bikes out of his driveway, sometimes you can get a serviceable 10 speed for very little. If you find one of those places then ask to see the ones he hasn't worked on yet, those can be dirt cheap because people give old bikes to these guys for free. Not a lot of demand for old shitty looking road bikes (road race style) but they can be pretty light and speedy for the money. If you don't like drop handlebars you can swap them out for something else. Plus, the shittier looking your bike is, the less likely it is to get stolen somewhere.

Yaaay! Might still be a little icy and cold here, but I'll probably whip it out soon. I love biking... I do it every day when it's not snowy lol

My main mode of transport.

I never put mine away.

If it's below 0F or more than a few inches of snow in the road I don't ride but that's been rare this year.

I average about 20 miles a day. to and from work,  sometimes just for fun.  Most I ever did in one day was 92.

I need to invest in spandex and nipple tape if I'm gonna do that again.  Major chafing.

I've got a GT Talera I bought new when I was 13 or 14 for about $450.  Nothing original left but the frame and one of the rims.
