right wing VS left wing

heres an observation: it seems that, regarding political conflict, right wingers focus on the ends, while left wingers focus on the means.

example: iraqi war- right wingers: we removed a ruthless dictator and freed the iraqi people!

left wingers- we killed thousands of innocents in the process!

sometimes this can be reversed, but it seems to me, for the most part this is true. or I could be completely wrong.

its that thinking that causes corruption. People two often discredit ideas without thinking about them because of the right wing VS left wing mentallty.

when I think about something it never enters my mind if it is a conservative or liberal idea, I just decide what is correct. Sometimes it ends up being conservative sometimes it ends up being liberal.

You really shouldn't even think about what side it falls on.

wow.....how enlightening. listen, im quite aware of the banality of political labels, but they exist nonetheless.

what I am trying to do here is examine the belief system of these two general political groups, which exist even if you dont think they should.

Hmm I suppose your right, I'm just tired of it constantly being Liberal versus Conservative, Democrat versus Republican.

But I guess it is for most people, even if it shouldn't be.

The only difference between the two parties is that they are ruled by different corparations/special interests who give them their money. One side is not dedicated to means, the other to ends. You can find countless examples of both sides taking the stance of 'ends' or 'means'. Both sides are dedicated to attacking pretty much anything the other side does. That is the only thing either side is always totally dedicated to.

Why do people seem to insist on only two labels though?  I see this in a lot of US political discussion, people get accused (always seems to be an insult) of being either liberals or conservatives, nothing in between.  It's all a bit Aristotelian, dividing an entire nation into 'left' and 'right', 'yes' or 'no', 1 or 0.

I tend to say my views are 'outspoken' and leave it at that :smile:

I will probably para phrase this wrong but I once heard it said that the difference is that the republican party wants taxes to go up by like 1.5 percent a year and the democratic party wants taxes to go up by like 3 percent a year (or something like that).

I'd encourage anyone not already familiar with the libertarian party to check out some of their party platforms, etc...
