oh, for sure, its a great tek. I use it but i use 1/2 gallons jars
you need to do alot more reading on teh subject though. Dont use rye, well rye is good, but it contams easily. Use birdseed. Heres the deal, got to www.sporeworks.com
then to there links and find the general growing draft, that the quart jar way with an added poly fill tip that works better then anything i have ever seen.

Yeh I'm a fist time grower and I'm tyrin it this way. MYcelium is growin on rice cake welll after 1.5 weeks. I'll let you Know how the rest go's.

Any one got any suggestions or improvments on this method??

Mycelium5150 Can you tell me a bit about you birdseed idea?? Please. I'm using brown rice.
Are you sayin that birdseed doesn't comtaninate as easy. I got 3 jars contam. out of 5.Bummer .
I'll be more careful next time..
