whose good with snowboards?

tryin to sell a burton snowboard. its a joystick 2010 with cartel est restricted (black/white) bindings and possibly the snowboarding boots as well.

i want to sell all of this and then hopefully be able to buy another snowboard better suited for me, i want one thats good in the park, and great with maneuvering. so a freestyle type of board that i can just jump around, turn, manual with easily and just mess with. my burton is stick as a rock, and its annoyin goin down the mountain, i know i could get something better suited for me. i want to eventually do jumps and grinds like i used to when i was younger. so any suggestions?

oh yeah im 5'8'' i  weight 200, but over the next couple of months ima be getting back in shape, i do plan on losing weight, so soon ill be about 170

Hell yeah. I have the LIB Tech Skate Banana, best board I have ever ridin. I will never buy a normal camber board again.

im gunna get this board probably after reading the reviews Lol,

will the wide version fit a 10-10.5 foot? and what yall think about a size 153 W for 5'8''  180 pounds?

I'm about the same size... Maybe a few inches taller, 10pounds lighter, same size boots.

I think my board is a 156-158, regular width.

Riding a Skate Banana makes snowboarding twice as fun. It makes it so much easier to bust out flat ground tricks while cruising down the mountain.

yeah but i got a 10.5 i just checked for my boots, but my bindings hang over a tiny bit on both sides, im guessing this is what " overhang " is, and from what ive been reading its not good at all to have this for response and board control, so im afraid i might have to go with the WIDE skate banana. or it could just be my bindings are longer than what is necessary.


but anyways, is it likely that one of a few snowboard shops will have the skate banana at all?

I've g ot a Burton cruiser I use everyday for work, and a K2 I use on nice powder days.... Everyone in the parks us slats bananas, so I'd say you're good there,
As for the extra wide, it's gonna make you go slower ( more surface are more friction) especially on slushy days. If you're really just hitting the parks, it's not gonna be an issue. Also keeping a good wax on it will help a ton.

alright thanks everyone i got a plan:

*compare my currect board width to the other board.
*see if my bindings will fit
*if not, see if there are other bindings that are smaller that could fit my 10.5 boots and perfectly with the banana.
* see if i fit in a 10 size boot, and then repeat with finding smaller bindings.

hopefully i can rock the regular, if not im sure the wide will make me happier then the board i got now anyways.

I just went and checked my set-up to get the exact specs. I ride a 159 board with size 11 boots and have large bindings and I have no issues with overhang. I also use Large size bindings at a (15, -15) angle.

My boots do overhang the edge of my board a little bit but it doesn't effect my riding at all. It only becomes and issue when taking really sharp turn and your boots drag in the snow. This never happens to me.

If you have size 10.5 boots I'd say you'll be fine on a normal width board. I think the hassle of having to ride a wide board would be worse than the tiny amount of overhang you might have.

anyone got tips on hitting ramps? Thats the point im at right now. Ive gotten like 2 ft of air succesfully but bailed a lot.

i also have a question for the guys who can do 360s and such...when you approach the top of the ramp, is the turning primarily started from carving at the last second or do you hit the ramp straight on and then start turning your body? or do you hit it straight on but twist your body one way and then kind of unwind the other way once you're in the air?

in all honesty, i have no intentions of hitting a terrain park, like... ever. I see people EVERY DAY, have to get taken out in stretchers, or helicopters. being unconcious, bleeding out of their mouths, mumbling about how they dont know where, or who, they are....

yeah thats why im trying to get my shit down before I go trying shit thats beyond me lol...Ive also seen ambulances like 4 out of the 5 times ive gone. Id just rather face the fear and learn and be able to fly eventually...u know...like 4 second air time :cool:

Best tip for jumps - Start small, work your way up.  Get comfortable doing ollies on flat ground, then get comfortable on kicker jumps, then move up to the bigger jumps. The better board control/balance you have, the easier it is.

When doing 360's its important to get the momentum started by swinging your upper body around. You do come into the jump at a slight angle too, slightly starting the spin before even leaving the jump. Its a combination of both.

I work Terrain Parks at my local mountain...

follow someone into a jump (Speed check) but don't take the jump with them, take the head wall..

When you hit the lip, pop up a bit and keep your feet under you.  Keep your head and shoulders up and square and just follow through as you spot the landing. Maybe start with pulling your legs up and gabbing your board.  Find the flow and just roll with it.  Keep your ass in and head up.  If your ass and head are way out over each side of the board you can go either way.  Ass out, sit down, face out, face first.  Bend your knees and stay centered and upright.

I always ride through and spot all my jumps before I hit them.  I want to know if the landing is dug out or solid ice.  When I get ready to hit it, I wait until the people infront of me have landed and cleared the area.  Sometimes people loose something and start going right up onto the landing.  If you fall or loose ur shit.  Step off to the side and let the people above you know you need to grab something.

Expect your asshole served to you and maybe a concussion or two. 

Nothing is worse then flying thirty feet landing with your ass out to much and grinding your asshole down the landing.

Been times when I did cliffs and the shock from landing made me knee myself in the jaw or mouth.  Fat lips, bitten tongue and cheeks, and swollen jaws.

Or a nose butter turned wrong into sliding on my back on ice head first into a tree.  People thought I was Sonny Bono until I woke up.  If I'm shredding I wear wrist guards and a helmet now.

I hope they got those easy ropes to get back to the top of the terrain park...at the other park I went to, I had to ride back to the top of the mountain every time to get to it. good advice btw thanks
