Anybody else snowboard?
    #7656921 - 11/19/07 09:48 PM (16 years, 2 months ago)

Snowboarding season is right around the corner, I can't wait. The places around here are just starting to make the fake snow and hopefully the slopes will be ready in 2 weeks.

Snowboarding is so sick, it's so fun to smoke a joint on the chair lift and then just carve and cruise down the hill. I'm gonna experiment with low doses of shrooms and acid on the slopes this year. Like .5-1 gram of shrooms or a 1/4 hit of some 1-hit-shit LSD. Sometimes on low doses it's like it intensifies all of my senses to the point where it's like I'm "in the zone" or "on the ball" if you know what I mean.

I got all brand new gear for this year too. I got the Burton Blunt board, Burton Custom bindings, and Burton Moto boots. Then I got a new four-square coat, pants, and gloves, a tight Burton bandanna with pot leaves in it, and some Electric googles.

So anybody else snowboard? How good are you?

me and my buddy have split 8ths of mushrooms for a day of snowboarding on multiple occasions.  REALLY fun.  Its hard not to have a good time shrooming on the mountain, you feel like you're in another world.  Got the ipod playing, you're sliding down this frozen wonderland, going fast... oh man.  We did this great groomed speed run with big drop offs over and over again-- you fly down this thing, and ollie at the top of the steeps, and just SOAR.... fuck if you're gonna trip then do it right, 1.7 is perfect for the purpose.

Smoke spots on the mountain are great too... there's a great cave at Mammoth and Breckenridge has those ancient cabins hidden in the trees.  We've had like 12 people huddling in one of those cabins, come out so blazed, people falling all over the place on the weird little tracks through the woods...

I love snowboarding, wish it wasn't so damned expensive though

oh yea and when you're really tripping, the chairlift rides are fantastic. Best views ever, crystal clear air, and that hyperreal shroom vision. Perfection!

So you pretty good then Noviseer?

I know what your talking about though, shit does get expensive with all the gear, and then the lift ticket, and then the gas to get there. It adds up.

And I was thinking the exact same thing about the chair lifts too. Even if I was trippin too hard to shred I could still enjoy the beautiful sceanery and the chair lift rides. I love nature trips and most ski resorts would be perfect places for nature trips.

I ride loveland ski area www.skiloveland.com the only non-gaper front range resort in colorado as far as I'm concerned. I also hike and hitch hike back up Berthoud Pass quite often this is sick back country there used to be a ski area but now it's shut down. Free all day even bring the dog - my dogs LIVES for chasin me on my skis.

I ski and snowboard. I learned to ski as a child, but wanted to learn snowboarding too so now I'm an excellent all mountain skier and a decent blue-black snowboarder with no tricks really in my vocabulary I like natural jumps like cliff hits and cornices shit like that on both skis and snowboards but am anti-park I like to catch natural vibe of skiing not the fuckin xgames.

I really like a good day of riding, stopping by a smoke shack and some tough runs in the morning, some drinks at lunch and a few runs in the afternoon cruisin and get home hit the hot tub.

It's crazy, 5 years ago I had two 100 day seasons in a row living in Durango, CO. Now, my knees hurt and I'm just not motivated to go every other fucking day 8 months in a row. Fuck come to think about I should have continued my life of ski bummage but I met some nice girl with rich parents who wanted me to do better things with my life blah blah blah now the bitch is gone but I'm still working hard WTF? (end of rant)

If your in CO lets meet up and ride people I'm down.

I wish I lived in CO, I bet there's tons of great spots there.

I live in the Midwest, there's only 2 worthwhile places with in driving distance from where I live but they're pretty decent places.

I'm pretty good I guess, I've been snowboarding for about 12 years now, but only about 20-30 full days per season... Good enough to have fun thats all that matters.  I'm happy just going fast, really, just like to carve at top speed on a good groomed run, and pow of course when its available.

Funny this thread started today, as my buddy just invited me to mammoth for 4 days in december--and his girlfriend is paying for the condo.  lol so weird, this chick is 45 and he is 23, its going to be him, her, and a bunch of his friends in this condo she is paying for.  That's going to be interesting.  Anyway, I'm stoked

Sounds like fun.

I've only been snowboarding for like 2 years now but I picked it up really quick because I skated for like 6 years before that so I already had the balance and the rail tricks. Right now about all I can do is catch air off of small/medium sized jumps and board slide or 50-50(don't know what you call it on a snowboard?) the smaller rails and boxes. But like you said, good enough to have fun and that's all the matters.

Don't fall off the chairlift if you're trippin!!

I'm going this year, haven't been boarding in three years! Too long damnit!

But i'm going up to Mammoth Dec 16-20, so I'm pretty stoked. Just hope we get some fucking snow! I want to get a few runs in before I go, either at Mt. High or Big Bear/Snow Summit. God knows they suck balls, but I want to get the most from my Mammoth trip.

And I will be smokin, drinkin, and trippin up in Mammoth. Oh heck yes!

i board - tripping while boarding is self deception. you suck WAY more than you think - don't over analyze it, you suck. on the other hand, smoking a bowl before you board is a good decision

Yeah I'm sure if I tried snowboarding on an 1/8th I'd suck ass. I'm planning on taking small doses like .5-1 gram of shrooms or a 1/4 hit of some super potent acid. Low doses seem to intensify my senses and puts me in the zone. On high doses I'd be too fucked up to be snowboarding.

Ive been snowboarding for about 5 years now. Skiid for 8 years then taught myself on the board. Never looked back. Im in Australia and our snows pretty shit, but hey, snow is snow i guess.

Worked a season up at one of our resorts, so was basically boarding everyday for 3 or so months, so i'd say im fairly experienced. So much fun, can't wait to experience some of the resorts overseas.

god i love snowboarding. i've only gone 8 times/(days) in the passed 2 years.
i learned on Big Bear/Snow Summit, (good to see soo many so.cal ppl
coming out of the woodwork) =)
anyway, my first time., after the 3rd run on the bunny hill i was like, fuck this shit.! & went on the intermediate course. i learned pretty fast.
since then, i've snowboarded blue mountain @ the canadian winter gathering,
& the last time was at Mammoth Mountain.

def. some of the most amazing times ever.
this is me on my 8th day:

this season, me & a grip of my friends are going to go as a group,
but we're having a hat/beanie competition,
we're alll gonna mob it down the hill with funny/bizarre beanies.

Mt. Baker WA,
It doesnt get much publicity for being one of the top mountains in the US because Wistler Stokholm is fourty five minutes from here. So we are under the radar so to speak. If you dont know what Whistler is, it's the next winter olympics town.

We also have some of the best mountain biking in the country here in the summer time. If you enjoy giant snow capped views, and mossy temperate rainforest.

This is Mt Shuksun taken from the lift area on Baker itself.

I snowboard...poorly.

I'm always broke in the winter (student, and cash from summer job runs out quick), so I rarely get to go, but I really do enjoy snowboarding quite a bit when I don't hurt my ass from falling down too much lol. Even then, I have a blast, though.

Dingleberrysalad, you ever go to Granite Peak/Ribb Mountain? Pretty dec. place for the midwest.

I use to snowboard a lot, but I've significantly cut back. This past weekend I went to whistler for 4 days, which was fun, but that was my first snowboard session in like 2 years. I use to have a season pass to my local mountain, for about 4 years, but i got tired of inconsistent snow conditions. So now i pretty much only surf, conditions are good a lot more often and you can do it year round a lot more easily than snowboarding.

Still, Snowboarding is super fun. I forgot how much of a blast it was until this past weekend. Probably gonna get back into it next season when i have some more $, or less broken surfboards.

I don't snowboard, but I live to ski. I'm fuckin stoked for winter. We have been getting little snow teases here and there the past 2 weeks and it's driving me crazy.

I'm in the midwest too, so I feel ya man. If you're ever around MN, we have some decent spots considering... check out Spirit MTN for some decent kickers and a little further north up superior is Lutsen, which just did a major overhaul and added a park that's supposed to be decent.

I usually head to the mountains at least 3 times a year... CO usually. this year we're goin to whistler!

and yes, I like to eat low doese of mushies and smoke a bunch of weed while I'm skiing. It totally gets me in the zone too, but not all the time. I will say that the first cork 1080 I ever stomped was inspired by the fungus a few years ago. and if you can't afford to pay for lift tickets, sneaking in usually works for me.

peace.

Holy shit! You can land a 1080? You've got to be lying. But if your telling the truth you've got some serious skill!

That's not how it is for me. When I get a nice buzz before I hit the slopes it's like it relaxes me and give me smoother more fluent style and better flow. But if I smoke a blunt or something and get super fried that seems to affect my balance and make me worse. You just gotta catch a buzz, not got completely baked.

Here's my setup for this year:

Burton Blunt board -155cm, Burton Custom bindings, and then I've got some White Burton Moto boots to go with it. I wear size 11 boots and the board width is 250 mm so I've got a little bit of toe and heel overhang, I hope I don't have too many problems with toe and heel drag.

We're supposed to get a little slushy snow on Sat. and then 1-3 inches of snow on Sunday. If I don't make it out to the slopes this weekend I'll definitely make it out next weekend.

Once we get enough snow I won't even need to go to the ski resorts to shred, I'm gonna set up a mini-park in my front yard. My house is built up on a hill so my whole front yard and driveway is a hill about as steep and long as most bunny hills. First I'm going to shovel all the snow form the driveway and sidewalk up to the top of the hill and try and make a huge, steep take off hill to pick up extra speed. Then I've got 2 skateboard rails that I'm going to set up in the snow, 1 is a kinked rail and the other is just a flat bar. And then I'll finish it off with a couple different sized jumps at the bottom of the hill before you get to the street. So I'll have a run where I can hit a kinked rail, hit the flat bar, and then finish it off with a jump at the end. That'll be a pretty nice set up to have right in my front yard.

Let it snow, let it snow, let is snow!

Hell yeah, I really like the Custom bindings. They're really comfortable and well paded, super easy to adjust, pretty light and they look phat too.

Love snowboarding but I need to quit buying music gear long enough to save for a good setup. I'm that guy who has to call all his friends amd see who's not using their board this weekend before he can go snowboarding.

Nice setup.

Here's mine.

Burton Baron 167, Burton Mission Bindings and Deeluxe Boots. Missions are alright, bought them when i was still learning, still pretty good. Looking at getting some Burton P1 bindings when i have the money.

I've got a size 15 foot, so hence why i chose the Baron. Its wider to accommodate bigger feet. Pretty good, have very minimal if any toe/heel drag.
