Can i get some help with why my router is a cunt?

direct pc to modem fine
ad in wirless router i get the below image and no net

it worked fine before i moved it to another room, now the wirless router gives me this plug to the pc or not

use the lan connection and type in 192.168.0.1 for the url address in a browser, it should bring up your router configuration. Your prob need to enable the wifi or disable mac Authentication or something like that.

Or, you can reset the router, delete the wireless network configuration on your wifi computer, then connect with the wifi. There should be a little black button somewhere on the router that says reset. You can also reset it if you screw up the config or forget your password for the router.

Don't forget to put an admin pass on the router.

@theblackhole, start by running a dos box and enter the command 'ipconfig /all' Post the output here to see if your IP configuration makes sense.

i got to the netgear wizard site but still with no connection i cant do anything.

Yes, the icon indicates that you have no Internet access, but that the wireless connection itself should be working properly. However, to get ahead with this, post your ipconfig output; we'll have to do this one step at a time, and the first step is to find out if your ip configuration is sensible.

You're certain your router is at 192.168.0.1, right? If you do a ping to your router (open command prompt/dos box, then type 'ping 192.168.0.1'), what happens then? Do you get a response (xxx ms) or an error ('request timed out')?

open Networking and Sharing Center from the connection ICON, click "MANAGE WIRELESS NETWORKS" click on the one with the name of the Router Connection, click remove.

Then reset the router with the little black button that is on the physical box. Manually select to connect to it.

The Wifi works on other connections right? If you entered an incorrect security key because it's not your router, then there's your answer.

That's not it. It wouldn't be able to connect if the key was wrong.

HAHA BS, depends on router. I don't know how many times I hung connected without being authenticated.

i went and found a tutorial, the one idea i didn't try got it going, unplugging everything then turning the pc on last, resetting everything in order fixed the problem. Thank karma is wasn't anything complicated but still i spent a long time tinkering with a lot of bs. Thanks for the help, i will bookmark this for later reference.:thumbup:

Reset is the cake that fixes most errors, put a password on your router imo.

192.168.0.1
Then if your router has an option for stealth mode, turn that on too. It ignores unsolicited traffic. It would be under firewall settings.
